Kamara Has Earned The Start Next Week

Which IMO is why the young man returns to The Hill next year, he is no fool.

I think he will as well. But with Kelly and Chandler and possibly Akers, we will be just as good if he doesn't.

Can't we all just get along? We need Hurd, Kamara and Kelly to be a successful TEAM. Football isn't about 1 player but it's a team game. Hurd is a beast, Kamara is quick and shifty and Kelly is tough as a pine knot and has great vision. I agree with Vol74 that Hurd has carried us the past 3 years and am thankful he came to UT and will more than likely leave as our all-time leading rusher. I also think that Kamara has totally been under utilized until last night and he showed that he could carry this team as well. With both of them we should be able to move the ball against any team in the country, including Alabama!

It was also the only game they've turned him loose. He's 1 for 1.

As good as his individual performance was, he's 0 for 1, we lost, do not get it twisted. Hurd once he returns will be the starter IMO but he needs to do more with less touches now, the offense no longer needs to be about or go solely through him IMO.

There's nothing to twist. Alvin Kamara was far and away best player on the field yesterday.

Kamara also the only player from a Power 5 school in the last 20 seasons to have 150 yards receiving and 125 yards rushing in the same game. And against a Top 10 team to boot. This guy is a Heisman candidate if he gets the same amount of touches all season. Better than Stanfords McCaffrey.

With 2 fumbles, and he's 0-1 as the lead back. And let's just say that he is the starting back next week and Bama keys in on him, those pretty numbers won't be there either.

You mean Bama has a tougher defense than A&M? That's a clever observation.

They need to utilize all three backs to their strengths. Hurd needs to be set up to run downhill and they need to let kamara do his thing outside. Either way it goes, all three running backs are stars. They each bring something the other doesn't. What we missed from Hurd yesterday was the fact that he doesn't turn the ball over.

Has he earned the start? It all looked great tonight, but consistency wins football games. It's the little things. Pretty stats are nice, but 7 turnovers got UT the "L". Personally, Id rather be 6-0.

And the same thing could have and probably would have happened if Hurd had been in. That stuff is going to happen in physical games no matter who is in. But I agree Kamara, fits the system much better at RB and Hurd would make a He$$ of a TE!

Hurd needs to play blocking fullback with Kamara as the scatback. Or Hurd could be shifted to tight end now and then. Or get creative with a dual tailback formation and let Dobbs read the D to make the choice. Put them in together in these formations and see the defenders open up.

I am a huge Hurd supporter since the day I saw him obliterate a local high school team in my town. He is my favorite player of the CBJ era. With that being said Kamara is a way better fit in this system and that was proven yesterday. I agree he should get the start next week. But I still want to see Hurd beat the rushing record and wished we would line up more under center and run down hill with him.

The only other thing I would add is that we missed Hurd's blocking in the backfield. He has been Dobb's best friend on the blindside.

I will always be grateful for Hurd to come to UT but he is clearly a I formation halfback . Kamara is the halfback we should look for in the future .

Turnovers killed us . I would of took Hurd with 75 yards and zero turnovers over Kamara and Kelly running wild and turnover city

One fumble unless you're saying Dobbs fumble is on Kamara as well. I can't remember if Kamara was on the field for that play but if so, i don't know many backs that can block the best pass rusher in the country. Me and VFL34 have the exact same opinion. I think I'm going to side with the guy that's played and been successful at UT over a mother/uncle that thinks they're on the team because they have a relative that plays. Fans are funny, right? Stop trashing Alvin in other threads for a team loss. You make it seem like with Jalen the team is unbeatable. Half of the defensive starters were or got injured yesterday, having them would've helped too. Kamara was NOT the problem and if you continue to say he was (blaming him for ALL the turnovers and using innuendo to say he can't pass protect), it proves someone is scared that their golden ticket in life may lose some reps. Just sad. Stop being salty.

Kamara had ONE turnover that's was pretty similar to the bonehead play Hurd made at Georgia. I think Alvin MORE than made up for it with 270 offensive yards and 3 touchdowns. Don't you? Kelly's ball security issues I agree with. He put it on the ground on two runs, without taking a big hit. That's a lack of experience in a big game. But Kamara was a stud, to lump him in and blame him for more than his fumble is just ridiculous.
