Kahlil declares for draft

His in game stats are virtually the same as Big Dan McCullers.... also, in the Championship game it appeared as though Alabama’s NT got penetration more than once! I’m sure he just went rogue though and didn’t stick to the script. Hopefully the scouts don’t drop his grade over it.

They have similar skill sets and responsibilities.

The point there isn't to say Kahlil is as good as Wilfork. But rather that a Hall of Fame 0-technique like Vince Wilfork put up little in the way of box score stats over what will likely be a Hall of Fame career.

Kahlil is not that good. But the people trying to say he was not good at Tennessee because he didn't get many sacks or tackles for loss simply don't know football.

I don't care about his sacks...tackles...etc...etc...etc...

I watched him fail repeatedly to draw double-teams, get any penetration, or disrupt any plays...against ANYBODY!

He's a slow-moving big body who overpowers NO ONE in one-on-one match-ups since the AA camps....

IF he does make an NFL roster--someone will attempt to convert him to an OL!

Gonna throw this out there and this is just my theory. Talking to a South Carolina fan today at work and he said we are going to love Fitzgerald as our S&C coach. Said he is hard nosed and will probably run off a few players when he gets here but TN will be better for it in the long run. Said everyone at USCjr hated losing him.
From what I saw from Khalil he has natural talent but he is soft and lacks discipline. Have to think he knew he was about to go through the most brutal offseason S&C program he has ever been through and didn’t want any part of it.

Yup,I think you hit the nail on the head. I wonder how much KMac actually likes playing football.

To me the coaching staff should have a very simple process for advising players to honestly make this decision. Did you make All-American? Did you make Second Team All-American? Did you make First Team All-SEC? If your answer to these questions is no, you stay. Is it really that difficult to understand?

I'm not sure why these defensive guys would leave with a guy like Pruitt coming in. He was probably scared he was going to be moved to nose

“How about Second Team All Conference USA, Coach?”

No loss here. Been a social media darling since he came here. On the field; disappointing most of the time. See how many yards we have given up rushing lately?

Another5 star bust at UT.

Like most everyone else, I had very high hopes when KMac signed with our Vols.

Sadly, I never saw him come anywhere close to his hype coming out of HS.

I think the main reason he left early is because he didn't want to work so hard and have to play the big man in the middle of the 3-4 D line.

If he gets drafted in the 6th or 7th round I think he'll be lucky and he better hope he goes to a 4-3 team to get a better chance to hang around longer.

IMHO he's going to have to grow up, man up and work lots harder if he wants to ever see a 2nd contract.

I wish him all the best but I don't have a great opinion based on what he's done for our footVol Team.

VFL...GBO!!!

Never panned out? He was great this past year and good the year before when he was healthy.

He's just a DT that takes on double teams and stands his ground. He's not a penetrating DT that gets sacks and TFLs. To see KMac's effectiveness you actually have to watch him play. You'll never know how good he played by looking at the stat sheet.

Kahlil was really good this past season. He was our 3rd or 4th best defensive player IMO after Nigel Warrior, Rashaan Gaulden, and Daniel Bituli.

He was great? Hyperbole at its best. The only reason he went pro is Gruden probably said he would take him late. I like Kahlil but his mouth was better than his play.

Can't blame him. I don't see much better than 7-5 next season. He probably wouldn't have improved his stock that much.

if what you believe is true, it is sad that, any more, all these kids care about is themselves..no more school/team loyalty...i know they have to make a living eventially, but just because the team may no be great, let's just jump ship, huh?....

I disagree. I think he’s built for NT in the 3-4.

I couldn't disagree more about this statement. John Kelly was a great back for us but it really is his life. If he has the chance to get to that career that could possibly set him for life financially, you think he should forgo that to come back to a team that won't help his draft stock? C'mon man. I wish him all the luck in the world, and I hope one day our coaches can use his pro career to help recruit. Also, he will always be a VFL. I wish anyone who has the chance in their career field the most success possible.

It runs both ways. If a high school star never gets it at the college level, they get PROCESSED. College football’s structure is built differently. They have 3 years required before they can move on. An injury can destroy stock or their entire professional future, and it’s omnipresent. Schools get the better end of that risk already. As a Vols fan I pull for my players to succeed beyond this stage.
