Kahlil declares for draft

I don’t know football?

Pretty sure you said you aren’t that impressed with Trevor Lawrence. I believe he is the highest rated QB they have had since they started these services. So you are saying you know more than Tom Luginbil and the rest of these guys that get paid to do this for a living? Also didn’t you guarantee Dobbs would get drafted before Deshaun Watson? Your track record speaks for itself.

Did you even watch the Army game? He was terrible. I doubt anyone who watched the game would say otherwise. Now I never said he wouldn't be good in college. He'll most likely be effective. But I didn't see the next big thing as the recruiting sites have suggested.

And I don't know how long you have followed recruiting but these sites get it wrong a lot on prospects. Remember when Tom Luginbill and ESPN were touting Blake Barnett as the top QB in the 2015 class ahead of Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold? Then Blake Barnett got beat out at Alabama by a 3-star true freshmen Jalen Hurts and is now fighting for playing time at Arizona State while Rosen and Darnold are projected to go #1 and #2 in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Tom Luginbill typically doesn't know what he's talking about. I take my eye test over his any day.

Maybe he's not interested in being a NT in a 3-4?

Considering that is his best position in the NFL, I think otherwise.

I just think he wants to play in the NFL and got a good enough grade to make the jump.

Some guys just want to play pro ball more than college.

Hurts was a 4-star. Check your eyes. 👀

You must not know me.

I've been calling for Butch Jones to fired since his debacles in 2015 against Florida and Oklahoma. I've also said for the last 3 years he's the only reason this team isn't holding up 2 national championship trophies already.

We were the most talented team in college football in 2015 and 2016. Any competent coach would have won 2 national titles. Butch Jones only ended up winning 9 games each year. Once all the players from the 2015 and 2016 teams end up in the NFL, the rest of you will realize just how bad he was.

Butch Jones won 9 games in back to back years with a team filled with stud NFL players.

Just watch Kamara this year in NFL, one example.

If KMac has similar performance as Dontari Poe(Memphis Tigers)had at the combine, he will go in the first round. Poe ran a 4.98 40 and benched 225 for 44 reps.

I hope KMac spent his time in the weight room being productive because he game film is not worthy of a first round or second round pick. Hopefully it was the lack of coaching why he was not dominating.

Barnett and Tuttle played for Jones...what does that tell you...
It tells me its not the size of the dog but the size of the fight that is in the dog...
Some people are self motivators....
Some people just go take it....

There is high demand for players with KM's abilities, but not much supply. He might not have met expectations at Tennessee, but some NFL team will take him for a multiple of six figures. Who knows; he could pull a seven digit income next year.

I believe he sees the writing on the wall.....Pruitt and company was going to work his ass off and he simply decided if he was going to have to put in the work, he would go to the NFL and get paid for working his ass off.

This new staff will eliminate more current players or the players will eliminate themselves (see above) for lack of---work ethic, accountability, devotion, commitment, and responsibility.

I said in other threads that some of the players would just move on...
Players could imagine their roles diminished somewhat rather than increased...these coaches are coming to win and are going to clean house and do what it takes to win imo...
I also posted that I think Pruitt is a man of few words and not a showman...he knows what it takes to win and all our present players know they are going to be a lot of good competition for playing time...I dont know of very many players on our current roster that can hold off some of the players we have coming in. So it will be a long off season with a lot of hard work to be put in...

Undrafted FA. Out of the league in 2 years tops. Poor decision.

You guys seriously know nothing about football. Here are Da'Ron Payne's stats at Alabama in 2017: Daron Payne College Stats | College Football at Sports-Reference.com

13 games played
47 total tackles
1 tackle for loss
1 sack

Compare that to Kahlil this past season: Reginald McKenzie Jr. College Stats | College Football at Sports-Reference.com

11 games played
35 total tackles
3 tackles for loss
2 sacks

Da'Ron Payne is listed at 6'2" 308 lbs while Kahlil is listed at 6'3" 320 lbs.

You guys keep citing Kahlil's stats but don't even know that most 0 and 1-techniques don't put up big time stats. Da'Ron Payne is projected as a first round pick by many and his box score numbers are less than even KMac.

Now I'm not saying Kahlil is better than Payne. Based on what I've seen on tape, I would take Payne over Kahlil. But the gap is small. And if Payne is a first round prospect according to most. Then KMac is probably not far behind.

As I have stated many times over in this thread, you guys will be surprised by how highly the NFL will think of Kahlil and his skill set. He's incredibly athletic for a man his size. He showed tremendous promise this year as a pass rusher up the middle. I wouldn't be shocked if he finds his way into the 2nd round with a great combine. Right now I think 3rd round is his most likely landing spot. And his play in the NFL will exceed those 3rd round expectations.

You guys are so freaking disrespectful. Blame Butch Jones for the fact this football team didn't live up to expectations. Stop taking your anger for the lousy season out on the players. Kahlil McKenzie has been a great player for Tennessee the last 3 years. He showed tremendous work ethic. This statement here is just disrespectful. I get it when it comes to someone like Jalen Hurd who quits on the team. But Kahlil never quit on this team. He simply moved on to the next level because he feels he has the talent to play in the NFL.

In a year or two when Kahlil is a solid starter in the NFL, those of you in this thread ripping him will live to regret it.

Though he never looked truly dominant in games, the NFL places so much emphasis on the combine and I'd think he would knock that out of the park with his athleticism.

Although I don’t think he lived up to his 5* ranking, he did a great job plugging up holes and stuffing the run before he got injured. Also, I don’t think he got the proper coaching during his tenture here with Butch so it’s kind of hard to say he was “Overrated”.

He’s not really a flashy player or a freak of nature. Just a guy who did his job without all the highlights.

Do I agree with his decision to leave? Personally, no. I think another year under Pruitt would do him wonders.

He’ll get his chance to prove himself at the NFL Combine.

Good luck Mr. McKenzie!

I am not ripping Kahlil at all...I haven't seen what you say you have seen at all....Kahlil should have been moved to the offensive side of the line if you want to know what I really think...
And I also said that Barnett and Shy also played for Jones so what happened with the play of those guys...and I said it just goes to show its not the size of the dog but the size of the fight in the dog that matters...
Shy and Barnett had it as soon as they stepped on the field...
They excelled because they had it in them and they went after it...

You guys do realize his dad can just draft him in the later rounds right. If it's any body else it's a bad decision. If your dad can draft you it makes sense.

Should have waited.

Pruitt would have really prepared him.

He'll be out of the league in one year.

Pruitt could have helped him focus his skills.

And KMac really would have helped with the transition

What? What makes you say that other than the fact Kahlil didn't put up big-time stats so that ignorant fans would know that he's playing well?

Kahlil is as good a NFL prospect in my eyes as Derek Barnett was last year. He'll be a solid starter for a long time in the NFL. You guys are seriously clueless about his ability and how good he was at Tennessee.
