Justin Worley Evaluation

He looked very good in the second half. He needs to work on his mechanics and his footwork and he will be a very good QB. I noticed Tom Luginbill was giving him alot of love towards the end of the 3rd quarter he seems to think that he will be a very good QB in our system. I think he will have a good season and finish a solid 4 star and compete with Bray for the starting job in two years.

He's going to stay 3* even if he tosses 40-50 more TD's this season. Harsh reality, but regardless we have a solid QB committed.

The other thread was pretty big, so I decided to start another thread for those who didn't watch the game about what I saw.

Strengths
- Quick Release
- Excellent pocket presence, knows how to get away from the pass rush
- Throws very well down the middle
- Also throws very well down the sideline
- Not afraid to make a tough throw
- Always has his eyes downfield, no matter what. Made two TD's by just keeping his eyes down the field
- Can take a hit
- Throws good jumpball
- Good touch on throws
- Did well looking off defenders
- Good spiral, catchable ball
Weaknesses:-
- Keeps ball too low, had it down to his hip a couple passes
- Footwork is shoddy at best. Needs to use his feet more to set his body up for a throw
- Uses all arm, very upright when throwing. Doesn't bend his knees enough
- Struggled to read defense
- Tried to force throws too much
- Drops back like a 70's QB: Drops back by looking forward
- Needs to learn to throw ball away

Justin plays in a TTU like offense. Once they got away from that and threw down the field, Justin picked them apart. He is definitely a rhythm QB. Once he got comfortable, he looked like a brand-new QB. He looked bad in the first half, and looked like a 5* QB in the 2nd half.

My conclusion: We won't start his first two years. His mechanics need lots of improvement. He is accurate, and is pretty strong-armed, but he needs a lot on his footwork. He does very well avoiding pressure, and he does a great job keeping the play alive. He does need to bring the ball up more on his drops. I can definitely see him as a starter at UT, but not in the near future. South Pointe is a very good team, and I came away impressed from the 2nd half on. Sorry this was long, but had a lot to say.

You need a life

His arm strength isn't great, but he played well overall. He isn't an elite prospect, but he is better than SC and Clemson fans will have you believe. All in all, JW showed me something in the second half.

Colt Mccoy and Sam Bradford weren't elit prospects either. Both three star I believe.

Worley had offers from the following coaches/schools:

Urban Meyer/Florida
Jimbo Fisher/Florida State
Les Miles/LSU
Butch Davis/North Carolina
Brian Kelly/Notre Dame
Jim Harbaugh/Stanford

If he is good enough for Chaney who both recruited and coached Drew Brees/Kyle Orton, he is probably pretty damn good.

He wasn't criticizing Worley, he was just answering a question asked. I'll be surprised if JW becomes a 4*

He looked better than avg. This kid was running for his life in the 1st half and yes he made some bad decisions.but as far as him not being an elite prospect I think your wrong. He will end up being a 4* or 5*, if your interested in star gazing. So if he ends up a 4 or 5* are you still going to say he isnt an elite prospect?

No way he ends up a 5*.

4* is possible, but I doubt he goes up that high. I think he's a high 3* when it's all said and done.

Bump.

Obviously this is from over a year ago, and he had college coaching since January, but figured you guys would like to read this.

Interesting indeed. If the OP is accurate, all his weaknesses seem like coachable fixes. At this point, it is a matter of how fast he has come along. I hope the Spring gave him a good headstart.
