Watch the young men he coached for most of their college careers play Hawaii.

Then watch the 4 and 5 star guys from USC play Hawaii.

I am really glad that Wilcox is our coach.

When we go from 1 DT to having M Hughes, M Jackson, Walls, a JUCO like Couch and maybe even a stud freshman like Gabe Wright, this whole defense will look a lot more like Boise State and less like Memphis.

The thing that gets me excited about Wilcox is that with how recruiting is going, it looks like he will have a personnel for 4-3 and also a personnel for 3-4. That is huge if he can pull of multiple looks of 4-3 and 3-4. He is known for his crazy defensive schemes (rushing 2 and dropping a DL back in the TCU-Boise St. game that pretty much shut down TCU in BCS game) and then the great Oregon game plan last year. I can't wait until we have guys in his system for a full year and then actually add depth.

The Chief, Monte, and now Wilcox...3 great ones in a row if you ask me. The big question once Wilcox gets his players to learn his system...Can we keep him? Get the checkbook ready MH!

yeah boise states got some awesome talent. name some nfl players that have came from defense. they just dont play the teams ut does. if they played in the sec they would not b ranked in the top 25. maybe wilcox will do good, but boise state doesnt have better talent on defense than tennessee never have and never will. i hope boise plays auburn or oregon so everybody will see how bad they get smacked

Was Wilcox back in the booth Saturday or on the sidelines. I didn't see him on the sidelines but that doesn't mean much. If this was the 2nd week in the booth, I think that might be one of the positive changes we're seeing.

Ask Oklahoma how they felt getting smacked in the face by Boise State....

Or Oregon (twice)... or Va. Tech.. or TCU. Boise St. would fare well in any conference they played in this year. They have too much depth, experience, and talent. Yes, they have talent.

They "may" not have been huge talents coming out of highschool ,but they've been molded into a top notch defense that I would take over ours any day until we can get our defensive talent back up to the UT level we are use to.

I completely agree. Was just getting tired of stupid statements like the one above saying Boise couldn't hang with Auburn (puh-lease...Boise would carve them, eat them, and then crap them out)...and Oregon (who besides Masoli, have the same damn team)...Boise would probably beat them as well. The only reason why Oregon scores alot of points, is because they have a fast paced offense, if they had a defense that was ready to play with their offense, they wouldn't be able to score a point.

BSU is a very good team. They would not go undefeated in a full SEC season though. On the other hand, they would not get smacked around either. They would be a consistant 2 loss team (if they stayed at their current talent level) in my honest opinion.

They are a very good team. Just not top 5 in the country good.

We will have to agree to disagree good sir. I believe they are...and I think after maybe a year of acclimating themselves with the SEC they could be a power house in the SEC.

Kidding me right? I'd like to see what their team looks like when the have a couple of key injuries. Also when they were supposed to first be big time Georgia smashed them for coming down here. They beat Chokelahoma with two gimmick plays that worked. You're looking at a senior team that barely beat Virginia Tech. Get the hell outta here. Why don't we switch schedules with Boise?

We switch schedules and we're a one loss team right now ... maybe even undefeated.

Check 08 and 09 results...contained Oregon (turned them over) and shut down TCU.

Took it to VT this year. As a complete team, they have better talent than UT, not even close. Our problems are not coaching, they are new system/talent deficiency. BS would thump us.

Yea that was in 2005, before their big win against Oklahoma, but since you want to make yourself look like an ass, we'll go with stats how's that?

You ready for this?

Ok

2001 they go 8-4 overall, they lose to USCe, Wazzou State, Rice and LaTech.

They don't play in a bowl game. First season in the WAC after leaving the Big West Conference.

2002

Only loss is to Arkansas in big fashion.

they go 12-1 and ranked 12th

2003

13-1 with a loss to Oregon State

2004 11-1 loss to Louisville in the Liberty Bowl

2005(The big ass whooping Georgia put on them year)

They go 9-4 including the loss to eventual SEC Champ Georgia

2006 Undefeated 13-0 season including the upset over Okalahoma. No SEC match up

2007 10-3 no SEC match up

2008 12-1 again no SEC match up

2009 14-0 and beat the **** out of everyone who they played, and even though the score doesn't reflect, man handled TCU.

2010 so far 8-0....

Beat VaTech (by three) *who by the way was #6 coming into the season* and Oregon State, (by 13), and then has slaughtered the rest of their schedule. So yes, I think they could handle anything being thrown at them.

This would allmost be impressive if they didn't play so many cupcakes week in and week out. I know it's not all there fault because theres no reason for most teams to play BS but that doesn't change the fact.

Hey, I like Boise, but don't be ridiculous. They're 6-4 against BCS teams since 2005 and 0-4 against SEC teams all-time. Here's how those SEC games went:

2000 - vs. Ark - L 31-38 (Ark finished 6-6)
2002 - vs. Ark - L 14-41 (Ark finished 9-5)
2001 - vs. SC - L 13-32 (SC finished 9-3)
2005 - vs. GA - L 13-48 (GA finished 10-3)

They still have more to prove, IMO.

BSU would thump us. They are definitely better than us, but they would not dominate the SEC. Yeah they beat Oregon and TCU (with at least a month to game-plan for each), but it's a different story when you gotta play a quality opponent every week. Auburn's 6th best opponent is on par with BSU's 2nd best opponent this year.

I'd like Florida's chances against them. How would they play against Spurrier's boys or just drop them in the West this year. Kill the Boise St. Bull.
