Everyone that complains about our coaches needs to do their homework and realize how many freshman and walk-ons or former walk-ons we are playing. You can dial it up, but you can't expect to get Alabama results with UT's players. We are young, inexperienced and in some areas just don't have the talent we need yet. The coaches are not miracle workers.

Thank you!!

ya gotta wonder why a guy like him took the chance coming to UT in the first place. he could have stayed at boise and got a HC coach in another year or two someplace. now his ability is in question because we have maybe 20 scholarship guys that can play SEC caliber defense? either Dooley is a hell of a salesman or Wilcox truly believes in the way things are gonna be done here

Nice perspective

Maybe, he knows that real football is played in the SEC and he wants to challenge himself. Anyone that judges a DC in his first year w/o his own personnal on the field is an idiot.

I believed and still do that he is a young gun but I am very disappointed in his ability to bring it to the QB in the first three games of the season. Florida had all day to deliver the football and it resulted in 3rd and long conversions that would make John Chavis look good. I thought he was suppose to bring the heat from all angles and I just haven't seen it. While I am no fan of dooley's I was very happy with the Wilcox hire. But right now Wilcox has shown me nothing special. I am not ranting I am resigned to a bad season but really disappointed in our defensive pressure.

his defense is very complex, i would bet the team just hasn't fully grasp it yet. just a thought. look at the play where the florida receiver was open in the back of the endzone, that was a blown coverage. not wilcoxs fault just players trying to learn.

I still don't think Dooley will pan out in the long run but all Vol fans need to realize this staff came into about the toughest situation imaginable. Late as possible with their hands tied behind their back with little talent and less depth to work with. They deserve two or three years to how what they've got. Even if we did get Gruden or Cowher or whatever dream coach you can think of, anybody would be hard presses to get to, let alone break .500 this season.

Yep. All 3 defenders went for the same guy. Inexperience and lack of concentration not Wilcox blew that one.

I still expect it, and admit that lack of QB pressure is the biggest complaint I have about last Saturday.

On the flip side, between Oregon and Florida UT has never had people in position to make plays against the spread like we have in those two ball games. We weren't outschemed. We were outplayed in the trenches.

Well put.

At times, we defended both Oregon and Florida good, but like you said we got outplayed in the trenches eventually. Our 1's on defense can hang in there with the best of them, but the 1's can't play the entire game either.

i agree he doesn't look as advertised. this was suppose to be the mastermind behind boise's D. looks like the head coach was the man there.

Yea but he did great against Oregon last year with 3 and 2 star recruits at Boise St. That's gotta say something.

2 and 3 star recruits that would beat our brains in. Boise would kill us. He would trade their defensive personnel for ours straight up right now.

CHILL, he has no EB, he has no players, AT ALL. give us one more recruiting class, let jacques and corey miller mature and we will have a nasty line in a year.

Coaching will only take you so far in this game. The fact is he's doing what he can with what he's got. Execution falls on the players. Give him some time and he'll be fine.

Maybe he can only do things with the players he has. It all goes back to the talent thing. Come on people give these guys a chance. Wilcox will do just fine.

You're right Justin should be playing a lot better for what they're paying him. If he doesn't go out and break someone's leg next week he should be fired. He 's playing soft and we can't have that. I really thought Justin would be a better player, must be something to do with him not being a 4 or 5 star guy. See what Rivals has to say about him and i'll hang up and listen.

How shocking...you find a way to make this about Kiffin. Who would have guessed?

Monte had the same players that Chavis used to post the 3rd ranked defense in the country. Only real difference was the loss of Robert Ayers and the addition of Janzen Jackson. Monte had nowhere near the 3rd best defense in the country. Monte's defense gave up an average of 51 more yards a game and an average of 6 more points a game. Robert Ayers was great but he didn't make that big of a difference. Monte is giving up an average of over 23 points a game to Hawaii, UVA, and Minn (all conference cellar dwellers) while having a defense stacked with 4 and 5 star players.

Please don't bring Monte into this. Monte should have never left Tampa and he knows it.

Dude we need D-Tackles badly.I don't care how many quality D-Ends we have without Good D-Tackles there's not much of a pass rush. And i think other than Reveiz our linebackers have looked a step slow.

I agree with you.Monte's D gave up a bunch of yards to Ohio and VaTech in the Bowl game.

So? It's still not his players that everyone is saying with Wilcox. Monte still had a top 30 defense. I'm pretty sure we don't have that right now. Monte's defense struggled some, but I remember him only giving up 36 points to Bama/UF last year. Guess how many Chavis gave up? 59. If Wilcox gets a pass, then so does Monte.
