I meant the reason I originally blamed it on Barnes had to do with his history of getting in guys heads.
Don’t you mean “your perception of Barnes getting into guy’s heads”? There’s nothing out there that I’ve ever read where current or ex players are saying they lost confidence in their shot due to Barnes ragging on them. If you know of any please link. If not than this negative perception of Barnes is nothing but pure speculation by unknowledgeable fans.

I mean, yeah, but there’s enough evidence to show that it has happened. We’ve heard guys say how hard it is to play for Barnes. Again, I’m not bashing Barnes.

I challenge you to provide a link where an existing or ex player said “Barnes got in my head such that I was afraid to take a shot” or anything close to that which was what I understood you to say. I agree that you can find quotes like “Barnes coaches you hard and pushes us to be our best” or similar. Huge difference in those quotes don’t you think?

I cant believe that there are so many Candy asses that have a hard time believing that alot of these kids want to be coached hard. During the pre SEC portion of the conference, one of the announcers during the game was actually discussing that he had talked to KC and that was a big draw for him to come to TN Bc Barnes would coach him hard.

I can’t find a link, because such link doesn’t exist. I never said a player has said that. You’re putting words in my mouth.

He said this but I’m not sure the film supports what he says.

I think it might just be he’s not used to what open really is at the high major level. The threes he’s taken are generally wide open. You can be somewhat contested but it still be a good high quality shot when your playing high caliber teams.

That’s my opinion. He’s too good of a shooter to only shoot when he’s wide open. He has to be willing to shoot when he’s just mostly open

Then where's the evidence that proves Barnes has ruined the confidence of the players?
Watch Vescovi his first year, then watch him his sophomore year, and watch him now. Totally different players with totally different play styles.

Watch body language too. You can see guys that are “scared” to make mistakes in fear of being took out.
again, I’m not bashing Barnes. He is a top 3 coach in Tennessee history. But it’s no secret he can be hard to play for.

So Vescovi, a guy who's spent 3 years getting the tough love and has gotten better each year under the same coach, is your big example of Barnes killing players' confidence? If anything, Barnes has toughened him up and elevated his play.

Whatever opinion anyone wants to have concerning CRB’s coaching has had on SV, no one can dispute SV is a far superior player today in all aspects of his game vs the guy that showed up at UT. SV followed the model Barnes preaches of getting into elite condition. SV has become one of the top defenders, best rebounding guard, and a better scorer/driver. I can’t understand anyone attempting to support the idea that Barnes has had any negative influence on SV.

I think he has been a little tentative in our offense. I would like to see him become more aggressive and determined to take open shots.
