Justin Martin possibly gone (update: not gone)

New to the party here.

So is he gone or not? From reading the initial info, it sounds like he got frustrated and said he'd quit, and Butch have him a release and said, "oh yeah? Cool with me. Play by my rules or GTFO."

So now JM will either leave or come back to Butch and say "I'm in on your terms now."

Am I way off here?

Yeah...he shut up and worked out...then tweeted about how silly it was.

Wish him the best, really do, but its next man up. Happens everywhere, just gotta move on. I sure do like the way that Butch handles the things, unlike Saban, Jumbo, and others. No drama here, cut, dried, and moving on! Go vols!

once again.....he is not gone.

wish the kid the best, sucks he doesnt have the balls to suck it up and play.

Yeah, exactly.

Butch is sitting on a bit of a powder keg here, with so many players new to the program. It takes time for team values and culture to sink into the beliefs and value systems of new members. There's a cultural adjustment that has to take place, an internalization of the new standards. With 64% of the team in the program a year or less (I don't think it's a coincidence that Butch recently cited that stat), that means there's a whole lot of adjustment still happening.

Big leadership challenge to keep the team coherent and moving in the same direction together with all that stuff going on. And that's even before little mini-eruptions happen, like the 3 in the past couple of days.

Wishing Butch & Co. nothing but success weaving their way through this challenge. Hoping the younger players mature quickly. Go Vols!

Insightful post!

that is NOT what DeerPark said you're putting words in his mouth...he said he just didn't think Martin would finish his career at UT

You're putting more words in his mouth:

I'm glad Bob brought this info as well as other info he has. He has proven (check his stats, haha) time and time again to be right.

This would have gotten out within 24 hours anyway. Thanks for the info, Bob.

Really glad to hear about Curt and JRM BTW. This team has needed that kind of leadership for a while.

I'm not so sure about that.

At some point being an insider has it's limits. As DP stated, it's "his opinion"...he's guessing like the rest of us.

But isn't it reasonable to think that he might have a more informed opinion on players being that he is closer to the program than the majority of us?

I'd trust DeerPark's instincts above my own, or those of most other folks on the boards here. He has a much better view of all the personalities involved, knows the culture better, and has a better feel for what doesn't seem to be fitting.

I don't think he can predict the future infallibly, but I'd put more credence in his guesstimate than most.
