Justin Hunter might've found a home.

Honestly, I didn't blame him for acting scared in 2012. I'm not sure if you guys remember (or even if I've got this 100% correct) but I seem to recall his girl getting pregnant sometime around then and I suppose I have always reasoned that the whole shying away from contact thing had something to do with securing his child's future. He's been soft in the pro's for the last few years as well. I have a bit of a theory that now that he's been in the NFL for a few years and has made some solid money, assuming he's put a little something back, he might be ready to put his neck on the line in the way he hasn't since his sophomore year at UT. I suppose it's more of a hope than a theory. It's just hard to see a guy that was arguably one of the best we've had in quite some time (and unarguably one of most naturally gifted) relagated to a practice squad ceiling at the professional level.

that theory would hold water, however he's not the only player that is playing to secure a child's future and everyone else plays tough....

Some people have a killer instinct, some dont.

Pretty sure they don't wear pads and hit during OTA's right? I would imagine he dominates in this scenario every season

And not every player with a kid has had to endure as bad of a non-contact injury as Hunter did. It's easy to dog a guy's toughness from behind a computer, but in reality every poster on here would be done after getting hit just once in a collegiate game, not to mention the pros. So when his livelihood is resting on his ability to play, I can understand trying to preserve that ability for as long as possible.

I remember him being very athletic and acrobatic with an insane vertical. More than adequate speed. But, also remember him being a little light in the weight department. Maybe ability to be physical enough against an NFL secondary has been difficult.

Exactly. And, i would venture to say alot of folks arm chair rating toughness from the keyboard likely did not even play highschool football. I remember those hits. They're not collegiate or NFL, but they were no picnic either.

You want tough, you need to recruit these small high schools like ours where the starting 11 on O is the starting 11 on D. You QB plays safety or linebacker, and your remaining 15-18 on the bench are are 1/3 freshman.

Clicked on this link thinking his "home" was a Virginia Beach jail cell..

You should have thought twice about clicking send on this post. Pathetic.

Justin is going to miss out on some great success with the Titans. They're building something special.

WR position is pretty stacked at Pittsburg but if he keeps it up, I suspect he will put the Steelers in a position to trade their #3 or 4 WR for a position of need, allowing Hunter to stay on the squad.

Steelers aren't exactly rebuilding. If he sticks with the team, then he's on the 2nd best team in the AFC. Much better chance getting a ring

He way down the depth chart. Likely insurance at this point.

But I am hoping he can get in some and show what he can do.

There is not a ton of size at wr in Pittsburgh, so he has that going for him

Hunter is one Sammie Coates in-grown toenail and one Martavis Bryant "brownie" away from having a role with the Steelers

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if he makes the roster as WR5, bumping Heyward-Bey off of the roster. Hunter has similar physical characteristics, but proved last year that he can be incredibly efficient in the Red Zone as a situational player.

I don't ever pay attention to "hype" around players who gain ground in practices.

I have a friend who was a WR for a semi pro team. In practice he would get his name called and did some good plays, but during games he never got his name called.

Trust me. The difference between semi-pro and the NFL is about as much between high school varsity and grade school.

Not close so not relevant.

Happy for Justin that he escaped the titans & caught on with the Steelers. :clapping:

"...escaped the titans..."?? What on earth do you mean, feather? Justin got himself run off by the Titans coaching staff and front office by his continued non-production on the field. He turned out to be one of the biggest busts they ever drafted. Count me as one of his biggest fans, but, it was painful to watch. Sad....

One can check my post. I made this observation before the Titans drafted him; too fragile and would not stand up to the physicality of being an NFL WR and gun-shy about getting hit. Bad combo, my friends....

When I first read this, I thought it wishful thinking. However, there have been times GMs have made stranger trades than that. But it usually isn't the Steelers.

Looks like I will be much more of a Steelers fan this year than I have been since Bradshaw.
