"With Antonio Brown, the reinstated Martavis Bryant, Sammie Coates, Eli Rogers and rookie Juju Smith-Schuster, the Steelers depth chart would appear to be a tough nut to crack but Justin Hunter is doing his best to make himself hard to cut.
The 34th pick of the 2013 draft, Hunter washed out with the Tennessee Titans, but per Tim Griffin of SEC Country, Hunter used his 6'4" frame to make a number of "wow" plays on the practice field.
Strong OTAs aside, Hunter still faces an uphill climb to make the roster. But if he's having a lightbulb moment, the Steelers receiving corps could be even more stacked in 2017"

He was incredible before he got hurt. Quick first step and a long strider. Was never the same after the injury--at least at UT. Hated it for him.

Happy for Justin that he escaped the titans & caught on with the Steelers. :clapping:

As a Titans fan I was ecstatic when we drafted him and I wish things could've worked out, but I hope he succeeds no matter what team he's on. He certainly has the talent.

Seemed like it scared him too much. I know it was an awful injury, but you have to let it go and play as fast as you can.

He way down the depth chart. Likely insurance at this point.

But I am hoping he can get in some and show what he can do.

There is not a ton of size at wr in Pittsburgh, so he has that going for him

He had 33 receptions before getting hurt. Almost all of it coming against crap competition.

After getting hurt he did clearly play conservatively to avoid hits (which his injury was non-contact so I always thought that was goofy).

But he had nearly 1100 yards in 12 games his last year, and then he got drafted 34th overall.

I think it's a little dramatic to say "he was never the same". He was very good in 2012 and the sample size before it was very small.

Remember, that last year he had Bray slinging it down field. Seems most of his catches were sidelines or headed that direction.

Hope he put some money back!

I don't ever pay attention to "hype" around players who gain ground in practices.

I have a friend who was a WR for a semi pro team. In practice he would get his name called and did some good plays, but during games he never got his name called.

Justin is a great practice player but he's afraid of contact. I wish him the best but I really doubt he makes the roster in Pittsburgh.

Hey, I hope he does make the Steelers roster, but that wasn't the best team to sign with given their pretty stout talent at WR. Then again, he may not have had much of a choice. Hunter has got to get tougher. There are a million stories of players looking good in OTAs and training camp and then getting cut. Fingers crossed---he's got talent.
