I don't remember CLK saying anything like this, maybe someone can refresh my memory? Pulled off Bruce Feldman's ESPN Blog this morning

"After he threw his third pick, it dawned on me: Out of all of the outlandish stuff that has come out of Lane Kiffin's mouth since he was named the head coach there, the craziest thing might be his statement that Crompton's going to be drafted in the NFL."

I think he was trying to give the 'Stached One some confidence.

The only people that believe he will be drafted is The 'Stached One and his family. Other than that everyone knows he will be entering the workforce fairly soon.

kiffin said he wouldn't be shocked if he was drafted by the end of the season. He never said he IS going to be drafted.

of course this comment was made before the WKU game

Thanks, this makes more sense, I wouldn't have been shocked if he made a bold statement like that, but I didn't remember him saying it

Well, we are all familiar with Crompton being an all american in practice. If he can somehow swing an invite to the combine, I am sure he can turn a few heads. He may actually show some decent numbers in the preseason. However, at the end of the day he might make the squad as a third stringer somewhere, and no where at all come 2011.

Maybe he "mis-remembered" and was actually thinking it was Crompton who would be working at a gas station...

CLK has been made fully aware just how fragile Crompton is. He will give him the game against Florida to get it straight as he said he would. After that I would fully expect to see Stevens under center.

The quote is in this article.

Kicking it with Lane Kiffin, Part I - SEC - ESPN

He’s been pleasantly surprised by senior quarterback Jonathan Crompton’s play, especially after hearing what he supposedly could and couldn’t do. Kiffin said Crompton has been on a par with most of the quarterbacks he coached at Southern California and wouldn’t be shocked to see Crompton get drafted if he stays healthy and performs this season the way he has during preseason camp.
