I'm not a big fan of Basilio's circus that is supposed to be a sports talk radio show...BUT, I loved an analogy he used to describe this team. He called the Vols a best-friend that he wasn't going to ditch now.
Personally, I've loved Tennessee like a family member since I was very little. Now that they are sick, I'm not going to turn my back on them. I'm going to be there for them to support their recovery, because at UT, it's a certainty that we will be back.
Big orange country!!!

One of the best analogies I heard was from a caller on a radio station this morning. He was saying how right now TN is like the little brother who keeps getting beat up by the big brother. You know what happens after a while with the little brother getting beat up so often? He later turns out to be the meanest sob of them all. Just wait a couple more years when this young team grows up, and can pay back "big brother" for what he's doing to them now.

My best friend from grade school that went on all my family vacations text me tonight, Roll Tide Roll!!!(I didn't answer) She and her husband are UT alumni and life long Tennessee fans. Her daughter is now a Bama freshman and her younger son is a Gator fan wearing Teblow jersey's.. My first rule would be I would not pay out of state tuition for Bama and I WOULD not buy a Tebow jersey.. Both my kids born and raised in Florida have know from a very young age this is not accepted in my house!! Am I crazy or do I just bleed orange??

Paying out of state tuition is the worst part of this whole story.

I'll go to my grave cheering for the Vols. Even if we didn't win another game, ever.

Quick answer to the OP : your friends never were true UT fans. I remember jumping up and down as a teenager listening to the radio when the Swamp Rat brought the Vols back to a tie against UCLA in Memphis. I was a Vol fan thru the Dickey, Battle, Majors, Fulmer , Kiffen and now Dooley years. I still wear my UT t-shirts on Sunday if we win or we get blown out by 30. If you're a true fan you don't even think about pulling for the other teams. Just my .02 cents worth. GBO

Being Vol fans should connect us to all of the games that came before...win, lose, and draw. We are connected to the team as it is right now. My view is that I should accept the challenges they face and not feel sorry for myself.

I'm pretty sure that they should be stoned to death. It's somewhere in Leviticus. Fortunate for them...God seems to hate the Vols so...he might be merciful.

Thanks for the support. I don't mean any of this in a bad way just trying to see how other Vol fan's feel.. My friend had her whole bonus room in her new home painted when her children were small by an artist with nothing but Vol cheerleaders and football players(they even have Vol wallpaper in a basement bathroom).. They have always worked for companies that provided them with tickets every Saturday and have gone to most home games.... So, I guess I just don't understand the support she gives her kids to jump on the bandwagon. Would I kick my kids out if they made that decision no but I wouldn't support it.. When I asked her why she would pay the out of state tuition her response was, it's about the same as the Webb tuition I pay now.. Wow!!
