...about the incident and any of you here that don't like your new coach are crazy in my opinion. This guy is a class act and fine representation of your University.

I am a huge BAMA fan and being a BAMA fan I am a Coach Bryant fan. As many of you may know Coach Bryant learned many of the things he new about football from General Neyland. They were rivals but they were friends.

Coach Bryant use to say, "Everybody has the will to win but it is the will to Prepare to win that makes a champion".

Coach Saban understands this and y'alls new coach, Coach Dooley also understands this. This is what he means by changing the culture of the program. I think it is important for y'all to realize that changing the culture of a program includes the fans as well as the players.

When Saban first arrived in Tuscaloosa he told us all very boldly that we needed to change. He said we all want to win but that winning requires doing it right and he wasn't to sure we were willing to do what was required to do it right and he was talking about the fans not the players. We all wanted a championship but we didn't want to wait, we wanted it now. Coach Saban knew that it required a complete change for us to ever be champions. He told us that being champions required everybody being on the same page and working toward a common goal and that the fans had a responsibility in it as much as the players and staff.

We had to be willing to let him do what he knew how to do. I think y'all have a coach that knows what is required to be champions. Coach Saban said that he was the most organized assistant coach he ever had and that Coach Dooley got the big picture. This guy is a class act and y'all need to surround him with support and he will get you there.

I am also glad that he and his family are close friends with the Sabans. I think both of our schools are very storied programs in not only the SEC but all of college football and I would like to see some class restored to this rivalry.

I hate to see y'all going through this because in the end y'all are one of our own and any fan from another school that likes seeing this happen to Tennessee or to any of those young men is not really a fan of college football in my opinion.

Anyway, y'all can still hate me the third Saturday in October but just know that I am pulling for y'all to get back to the Tennessee I watched my entire life as a kid and back to the great program that I know y'all are.

Roll Tide!

Very classy post.
Everytime you post I find it harder and harder believing you are a fan of a rival school. I've seen so many other fans bashing UT over the past two or so years, I guess I have kind of gotten used to it.
Thanks for your kind words!

classy post right there. Wish some of the younger generation of Bama fans were like this. Most of them don't realize how storied the Bama - UT rivalry is. The only thing they seem to remember is the Albert Means situation.

Thanks Bama - i assume you are an import to the state judging by the depth of intelligence...kidding. There are some extremely classy Bama people that visit this board. Great post.

I'm sorry but I can't handle a lesson on what Bear Bryant or Nick Satan told the bammers. All I hear is yada, yada, yada, blah, blah, blah.

Excellent post, thanks for the contribution.

My brother and I were always impressed by Bama fans supporting their school well during the lean years. The history and tradition is great but the fan support is awesome.

I still hate the cop who maced the reporter from Knoxville who had valid press credentials. That was classless.

Some of you Bammers and Gators are really starting to piss me off by making it hard to hate you.

I personally appreciate your post. See you in October!

Honestly I think he can turn us around if we give him enough time. These next couple years will be bad and I hope the athletic department, boosters, and fans don't run CDD off before giving him the appropriate time.

Wow, Dooley knows how to handle a press conference. I'm not sure why he left the legal field because I bet he was an excellent attorney and I am envious of his public speaking ability. I've heard nothing but praise about Dooley from both coaches and players perpsectives like Nick Saban, Peyton Manning and Joseph Addai. He is going to bring the Tennessee program back to where we belong, which is a perennial college football power that is always respected by it's opponents.

On a side note, I have only watched UT for the past 7 years, so I really want to see the BAMA-UT rivalry at it's zenith. I've heard so much about the historical rivalry but I have never seen both teams when they have been hitting on all levels. Looking forward to that in a couple years.

Nice post Scoop. I appreciate your honesty and reason all throughout today on this site and on Tigerdroppings.

Not gonna lie though, after reading your stuff for two years on TD, your flattery of UT/Dooley is freaking me out. I guess I just took you way too serious. Some of your stuff really pissed me off until I realized you like to have fun and ruffle feathers with rival posters. It's just I never thought I would see you defending our football program.

I hear that bud. I actually did get to watch a lot of awesome games between the two when Gene Stallings was doing his thing there and there really were some intense battles between them. I also think Dooley will get them there regardless of his x's and o's abilities. I think while he may be a competent coach, above all he has brains. I think he will complement any weaknesses he has with a compatible staff. He d@mn well may have to boot 1/3 of the current team before he gets rid of the idiots, but I'm confident we will get to see classic firefights between Dooley and Saban. I get giddy thinking about it. What was the line Bear Bryant used...."When you've play one of General Neyland's teams, you know you've played somebody."

What the heck is going on? Rival fans reaching out to UT fans after an incident that results in a bunch of players suspended and dismissed. Come on guys, this is where you kick us when we're down. This buddy buddy crap is boring. We hate each other, don't forget.
