No prediction there is it? Don't get your hopes up for some big hire. I don't think it's happening.

Who is we? All the chicken littles on this site? Don't care one way or the other.

Thanks Cartervol, I'll put your opinion with the other *******s on the board, in the "I'm a negavol and I don't want what's best for the program" pile.

Too many people with inside sources has said "Randy Shannon", the presser was always going to be Monday....I'll take their factual base opinion over yours.

That TOS list is very interesting. Zook, Sunseri, and Bennett are good candidates IMO. VanGorder's on there too, but I doubt that would happen

How long you been here? Did you follow this board during the Kiffin or Dooley hire? Do you follow recruiting?

If you said yes to any of these you should know that we have very little factual base opinion supporting the hire of Shannon.

Most were saying Kiffin would be the coach. The last search was a complete scramble.

Coincidentally, most of the insiders on VN and VQ are saying it will be Shannon. Just saying that there's a reason people are confident. Not convinced myself.

We will hold you to your comment, since you seem to have the inside scoop...come Monday make sure you are back on the board....then you will have 2 directions to chat about...

1st - See VolNation I WAS CORRECT...you where into a RUDE supprise..:hi:

2nd - Gee, I guess I need to keep my comments to myself until I have better information...:hi:

Until Monday Presser

Why don't you hold all the people who made comments as facts to the fire? What about all the people who said Steele was coming per inside sources? What about you talking about a Monday Presser that no one in the media has let on to that they know anything about? You do know that if there is a Monday Presser good chance the media will know Sunday night?

I forgot people only want to support what they want to hear.

If it is who you think it is, do you like the hire?
I don't think Randy Shannon is the right fit for now at Tennessee. Dooley is in the position that he has to win now. Randy doesn't know this conference, not real familiar with the opponents he'll have to beat in year one to make sure Dooley is still here. I just don't see Dooley hitching his wagon to a guy that might need a year or two to get his legs under him here. Dooley simply doesn't have that much time.

I'm w/ you Carter...Building up to another epic VN meltdown..I'll just sit back and hope for the best hire available.. Dooleys job depends on it, can't flub this one up!

Honestly I pray they are right, but I remember the let down over Dooley after hearing so many rumors of good hires.

My fear is we are all drinking the kool-aid this is going to happen, and it has gotten out to recruits also that Shannon is the man. What happens if it is not, if they promote Thompson? Let down, and Dooley will get the blame, but it will be our faults.

Well since you can't read....

this is my joining date.

So no I didn't follow the past two coaching hires.

But I am sure, I can probably find DocVol and a few other reliable sources and they probably nailed it on the coaching hires.

That's what it really comes down too. Shannon has a nice ring to it and bring a certain level of optimism, not sure he's the guy Dooley really needs to gets wins right away.

I'm thinking he may have his man in mind at the convention. Either that or they're still coaching right now.

Joining has nothing to do with following Vol Nation. I lurked here for years before I joined. I did see your 'Join Date' (OMG college paid off), but I wanted to give you a benefit of a doubt. I wasn't a member during the Kiffin hire but I followed it here.

It may be, but I don't understand why a school that had trouble getting a head coach thinks it can get a big name DC. ut had to settle for dooley, so why would a good coach sign on to a sinking ship?

My my my how we forget the mud slide the crimson turd went through after Stallings left. You Alabubba fans sicken me!!

I am not trying to make this into you are right or I am right about the hire or rumor. But one thing I am sure I am right about is you have to stay reasonable when dealing with rumors, and Vol Nation is not right now. My attitude is please let the is Monday Presser be true, but I know as of right now I know nothing for sure.

I was listening to a radio show over here in Nashville yesterday and a Miami fan called in and said that RS rely's on talent, he doesn't know how to make adjustments when the talent is lack there of. IDK TIFWIW

Sounds like most coachs

Pointless.

It's Randy Shannon.

While it seem so here in VN land, I am starting to think Shannon may not be thinking the same. This has gone on too long....Shannon is not coaching now, likely kicking back and hoping for a HC position to open up. So Hart/DD may have dangled the carrot, I am thinking Shannon is holding out to the very last.

I would like to see other names emerge....could be a headliner wiling to take the DC position.

I don't have a name. They've been pretty tight lipped about any info that's getting out. I think it will end up being someone with SEC experience.

What would you think of Keith Butler. He is currently the STEELERS LB coach (past 9 years), and was at Browns before that. He was an AA at Memphis and was on coaching staff at Memphis when they beat us with Manning. He was a DC at Arkansas St. before going to NFL. He played in the NFL for 10 years with the Seattle. The only problem is we would have to wait till after their season to talk with him, but I am sure we could get a feel for him before that.

What they fail to recognize is that it took $4mil to get a real coach to come to Tuscaloosa. Without a fat checkbook they were playing with B stringers as coaches also.
