Just throw the ball

I would love to be able to line-up with 2 TE's and run it down everyone's throat, (which I think Dooley would prefer as well), but its obvious that we can't do that.

There is no shame in being a pass-heavy team, (watch Brady and the Pats). Throw to set-up the run and be comfortable with who you are. Instead of recruiting big, slow tailbacks, find some guys who are quick, elusive and can catch out of the backfield.

I love Coach, but he can be stubborn to a fault. We know we can throw, so just do it and get over it. The NFL is a passing league and if we want to lure top talent with NFL aspirations to UT, doing what we do well might be a win-win for everyone involved.

Great points. We have a very talented RB in Marlin Lane, but our interior OLine is too soft to run the ball in the middle. I was very surprised yesterday that we continued to go to the draws and delayed handoffs when it was obvious that we were getting whipped up front. Pass first run second, and our running game should go off tackle or to the edge. Get our play makers in space and good things will happen.

if you can't run the ball in the sec, you won't win. simple as that. we, and nobody else is going to run on l s u.

I've heard that a lot, (and I'm not saying I disagree with you), but I'm just wondering if that's a fact or maybe it's just conventional wisdom. This is not the SEC of Pat Dye, Vince Dooley and Bear Bryant anymore.

If we use short, intermediate passes with the occasional post/fade down the field, it doesn't matter how good an opponent's DL is, (you have just negated, perhaps, their strength, especially if you throw in draws and screens). Take your shots with your running game, not your passing game.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it is just so frustrating sometimes to see people doing the exact opposite of what they should be doing.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

First off. You just said that nobody can beat LSU. a) if you can't run you won't win, b) nobody can run on LSU, therefore, c) nobody can beat LSU. Nonsense.

Secondly, there's no proof that you can't win in the SEC as a pass first team. Nobody with a Tyler Bray has tried it.

I like the way you think. Just because it hasn't been done before doesn't make it wrong. Bray should be attempting 50 plus passes the remainder of the year. A short pass is long run for this team.
