Considering the depth we have at rb does anyone think we may see one of our rbs lining up at fb occassionally? For example a set where hardesty is hb and poole lines up as fb or any combination really. I think we could spread the flats with set like that. Any thoughts?

If you are counting Toney Williams as a tailback, absolutely.

Id really like to see us use two of our best tailbacks at the same time. remember how great Cadillac and Ronnie Brown were at Auburn? With Coach Gran at the helm of our RB's, and the talent we have there (returning players and freshman), I wouldnt be surprised at all if it happens.

One TB might be in the slot but you're not going to see an I-formation with Hardesty at FB and BB at TB.

Tennessee has 3 pretty good athletes at FB right now.

There is definately a stable of horses to choose from...Damn it is good to know this...I do see Bryce being the slot back that does it all...Man I can not wait!

I dont see that happening, Kiffin's offenses typically use a lot of one back sets anyway... But with our running game looking superior to our "passing" game right now I wouldnt put anything past him.

Ok, so we have Hardesty, Creer, Poole, Brown, and Oku. Do you think Hardesty is the starter come fall?

If he stays healthy yes. You left out Toney Williams too.

In my opinion, Tennessee is going to be a run heavy team. 3 or 4 backs will get a lot of carries per game.

Thats what Id do.
Run Run and Run some more.
Mix in a pass now and then and we will be ok.
With all these backs why not try it?

I wouldnt take too much from backs "looking good" in spring practice. I think it will be nearly impossible to keep BB out of the starter's role. Hardesty, Creer and Poole are great backs.....but if BB is half of what he looked like in high school, they are just not on his level. It is, however, a GREAT problem to have isnt it???

9 RBs/FBs may see touches this year. Hardesty, Creer, Brown, Poole, Oku, Williams, Cooper, Bartholomew, Johnson. RB/FB and WR are pretty deep if we can just find someone to get them the ball and block.

I don't mean to dampen everyone's spirits but if our line doesn't learn how to put a hat on somebody and make holes, our upcoming group of RB's might not look much better than last year's running back committee.

Believe me, nobody is more excited about the possibilities we could put in the backfield than me but I think we should be cautious, as well as practical, when it comes to this years running game. I sure hope our new line coach will stress fundamentals and technique better than our last coach. I'm hopeful that this has been much of the problem and it's not that we haven't had much talent in that area.

Although I believe that Clawson's blocking schemes/assignments had a lot to do with our lack of success in that area, I still believe it boils down to getting after somebody and putting a hat on someone. All the schemes and techniques in the world don't matter if you can't do that.

Cadillac Williams and Ronnie Brown ran a lot out of the split back formation. Does Kiffin employ these schemes in his offense? If so, I could see BB on one side and Creer or Hardesty on the other.
