My wife, baby, and I shared a row from Dallas to Phoenix with a stranger who is a fellow Vol. He's from Spring City, TN and we talked the whole way. My 18 mo old was playing with his beard and saying his name by the end of the flight. After living most of the last 20 years in the western US, I cannot tell you how much I have missed the friendly people of east TN.

I didn't want to bring up VN because I'm self aware enough to know that I get mixed reviews here and I didn't want to distract from the good convo. Now that the flight is over, I thought I'd put out the feelers to see if this guy is on VN. Anybody know a Vol from Rhea County who is spending the week at this energy conference here in Phoenix? I'm half expecting to find it's somebody I know here.

I see Jacoby Jones each week here in Jackson at a local restaurant. He's not a Volunteer but a former NFL star.
He lives here now in Jackson.......sits at the bar & talks on his bluetooth headset phone like he's somebody special.

I know for myself that I'd whoop your butt on a plane for bad mouthing soup!

Lol... I've heard Volnation brought up in the stadium a couple of times. I just pretend like I don't know what they're talking about.

A person talking on a Bluetooth headset phone means they think they are special? Almost half the people at Walmart do that. I doubt they believe they are special. More a matter of convenience or personal style.

I don't think they're special, but it does blow my mind how people will just walk around a store or sit in a restaurant and have a conversation. No big deal, but at least slightly make an effort to have your conversation off to the side,in a private area or outside.

Come on down to Sarasota. People walk around stores and in restaurants on speaker-phone! WTF?

When I’m on the road, it blows my mind the number of people that will keep the conversation going right through a trip to the restroom.

What freaks me out is when you hear someone talk and then you turn to look at them. Because you turned, you caught their eye and the person is already looking at you when you finally get a look. So now it's extra confusing because you've locked eyes and they're yapping. It always takes me a good bit to figure out they're not talking to me.

I was walking out of work one night during Christmas and in the lobby of the building was a large Christmas tree. As I’m passing it there’s a woman alone gesturing around and pointing at things. ā€œIt’s so huge! There are presents all under it! The lights are amazing!ā€ I was getting ready to let security know there was a weirdo in the lobby until she turned around and I saw the Bluetooth in her ear.

Jacoby was a pretty good receiver and returner in the NFL. Made the pro bowl, won a superbowl, set some superbowl records. Had some trouble with drops and fumbles, but pretty good player.

He went to college there in Jackson, playing Div II ball at Lane.

I've actually told an employee that he could call me back once he was done in the restroom. smh
