Just Settle Down, Please.

We should definitely give him some grace. He deserves that. But he has to make changes this off season. Regressing in year 5 is a bad look. Can’t consistently beat rivals, defense looks bad, QB decision making has been hell at times, special teams bad.
Well, to be honest, Heupel succeeded early at UCF with what were mostly Frost's recruits. Once those guys moved on, Heupel became more ordinary. This is his roster and staff now. He can and should get a pass for Nico and all the injuries we've had, but he's got his work cut out for him if we're to survive next years schedule. He might want to consider restarting his clock if another job offer comes. Just sayin'.

I’m ready to move on from this. It’s not going to work. Hooker made him look way better than he is. And yes Banks and Martinez aren’t worth their paychecks.
If Heupel stands pat this off season, you may not be the one on the move considering next years schedule. Heupel has had back to back easy seasons to pile up good will. 7-5 this season will cost him a good sized chunk of goodwill with this fan base. And Heupel better pray White doesn't take another AD job. If he does, Heupel will definitely be under some heavy scrutiny.

Hope he is gone. His choking has killed us this year including flat out losing us the biggest game of the year. He is scared to death and you can plainly see it on his face. The TV guys know it and make it worse while zooming in on his face after the choke of the decade vs UGA.
Yeah, he missed one against Mississippi State too, we just got lucky that they missed one also. He’s not the only reason we lost last night, but making that kick could have bailed us out from some of the other mistakes.

Settle down, folks. We lost tonight. But I said to people that if there would be a team along with Georgia and Alabama that gave us fits this season, it'd be Oklahoma. The Sooners are not a bad team. They're a good team and a reason they are 6-2. It is so asinine that I am seeing comments of some of the fans on here saying we're going to be 7-5 or we need to get rid of Josh Heupel.

Yeah, Heupel got outcoached tonight, Joey picked tonight to have his worst game of the season, and Max Gilbert still can't make a Field Goal in a clutch situation. But before the season, the experts thought we'd be 6-6 or 7-5. Hell, there were some that thought we'd probably go 5-7. We lost many players in the offseason, we didn't know what we'd get out of Joey Aguilar before the season, and several players on defense have been out since before the season. I am just saying it could be worse.

We are great at offense. Most of our offense did a great job, but Aguilar got too greedy and aggressive on some key throws and that hurt us. Especially how great their defense is. Defensively, we should be better next year with some guys coming back and if we recruit more blue chippers and get quality players from the portal.

But we also NEED to fire Tim Banks and Willie Martinez. Even with the players we have out, we should be better than what we are defensively. And our secondary is still mediocre at best thanks to Martinez. And we need to get a better kicker in the offseason and send Gilbert on his way.
Fire the head coach. Then start over. With a real general manager. We do not need any of this **** anymore. None of it.

The Oklahoma defense is really good. Their front fooled our OL all night long and Joey never figured out their secondary. We piled up yardage between the twenties but couldn't get points - of course Oklahoma has the best scoring defense in the SEC so that’s not a big surprise.

I don’t like to lose but that’s always a possibility when you play good teams…

BTW: Mississippi State and Kentucky both won tonight so I believe that improves the conference record of the three SEC teams we’ve beaten to 2-14…we’re a young team in a rebuilding year. Good thing we picked up Joey or we’d probably be 4-4 at this point.

You can't tell me there is no one available on the sideline that has kicked before. ANYONE couldn't do any worse than what we have been getting. This is on the coach for trotting him back out there and hoping for a different result. Why can't the coaches learn after getting burned so much. What would Steve Spurrier do?? Yes, "Son, sit down. Someone else is going to kick now. You're playing for the other team".

Dude…we will end up 7-5 (3-5). Our only conference wins will be ARK, MSST and UK. We have not beaten a team with a pulse.

Last night was that point for me. We are in the downward slope of Huepel’s tenure here. His game calling has gone downhill, the preparation is totally missing, and the locker room will sleepwalk through the remainder of the sec schedule.

He will be here next year as well, won’t make any changes in coaching staff, and we will be at the lower half of the sec again.

Soon it however you want, but this team will not be ranked much longer. This is a paper team that folds cheaply against any decent team.

It’s coaches first ever bad home loss technically. Can’t make it a habit but I think he gets a pass that it took 5 years to have a bad loss at home lol. It sucks because OU really did nothing special to win the frame, their most impressive plays were FG kicks lol

Think about it - last night was about the scoop/score, their kicker going nuclear and Max missing makeable kicks. Alabama was about the pick six. Georgia was about not executing a simple ball-centering play and then another missed short kick. Those are the difference between 9-0 and 6-3.

This is a good but flawed team, not nearly playoff worthy defensively, and 6-3 is what we deserve to be. But if you just stop for a second and look how we got here and how damn close we were to being at least 7-2 or 8-1 if we get last night and one of the UGa/Bama games.

The nega-trolls are ready to burn the house down, which is par for the course, but the reality is that in a really difficult year - Nico, not knowing who our QB would be until August, both CB's down, lost talent, and youth all over the field - this has been a pretty impressive season and job done by Josh.

Yeah, it isn't good enough to be 6-3 right now, but the recruiting is just hitting its stride and there were a lot of kids growing up under fire this season. Even the idea of cutting bait on Heupel is too asinine to even discuss.

I can understand the frustration, but Heupel is a very good coach. Look where the Vols were before he got there for so many seasons and then look where you’ve been from his second season and on. So far he is leading you to the playoff every other season and aside from his first season, you guys would have been close the other seasons.

I’m just saying, I wouldn’t be quick to run off a coach that will compete for a playoff spot most seasons and make if half the time. Winning at that rate in the SEC is ridiculously hard. It’s very likely that with Heupel there will come a season where everything goes right and y’all get the breaks you need to play for or win a NC.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t keep on the lookout for something better, but I’d be reluctant to run off a good thing. I mean who would be better? If I were a Vol fan I wouldn’t want to lose Josh.

When a UGa guy has to come in here and be a voice of reason, it speaks volumes about a good chunk of this fan base.

I remember reading a comment on here, I believe in 2023 when things weren’t going as well as 2022. The poster commented that Josh Heupel’s teams usually look good for a couple of years then the true culture of the team takes over. I think we can see that his teams are undisciplined and have no killer instinct. It is clear that this team has the talent to play GA, AL, OK and win, but can’t get out of their own way. It starts with the coach. He doesn’t have an understanding of the intricacies of the game. He has no killer instinct. He’s playing checkers when other coaches are playing chess. We saw live on TV last night that he doesn’t understand the clock rules. He didn’t know that the clock doesn’t stop when the ball carrier runs out of bounds with more than 2 minutes left, although that has been the rule for 2 or 3 seasons now. He’s not willing to hurt a players feelings when they screw up. He’s not willing to fire coordinators or assistant’s to upgrade at those positions. The rest of this season could be ugly and next season might be worse.

We gave them plenty of help last night.
I was impressed with their front seven, in the run game. Other Than making Mateer look like Lamar Jackson, I wasn’t impressed.

I was at the Arkansas game this year. Saw other Tennessee kickers hitting field goals pregame from the same distances as Gilbert, so we definitely have other options.
