Just Saw This Week's Coaches Poll...

This game is much like the UK game in that UT has the talent advantage on the field. Which coaching staff will shine?

Mizzu has deceptive talent. CGP is probably the best system recruiter in football. The players mesh well with each other and the scheme. They never recruit very highly, but every few years (like last year) a couple of those 3 star guys blossom and show out.

I don't think they have the whole package this year, but they definitely don't need to be underestimated from a talent perspective. :twocents:

I don't think beating Mizzou would "mean a ton to the program." They are Mizzou. They played a soft schedule, are severely overrated and we are better then them.

Y'know the negas are pretty annoying but your over the top optimism and general blindness to the true state if the program is almost as bad.

It is true.

The ultimate homer. People are setting themselves up for a let down. This is not a critical game, this is not a must win, Tennessee is not better than mizzou, and if we lose I'll be fine. Were going to a bowl game where we haven't been in 3 years, be happy. If we lose the Vanderbilt game then you guys can freak out, but I'm sorry we will most likely lose the mizzou game

I was just thinking yesterday...this late in the season when was the last time the SEC East leader was not ranked in the top 25?

A 8-5 record this year would be HUGE for recruiting, and I think it is entirely possible.

As far as the East teams go, not really.

At this point in 2010, a 6-3 South Carolina team was ranked #22 after a loss. Tennessee was about #22 or #19 at this time in 2007.

As far as the West goes:

The 1998 Mississippi State was unranked from Oct. 24 until they beat Arkansas on Nov. 21...so at least one team in the conference has been. They went into the SEC Championship game ranked #23 overall.

Also 1995, Arkansas was unranked around the end of October, but they were #23 going into the Championship game.

Also, Georgia probably has a better chance to beat Bama in the SEC championship. I don't want Bama/Lane Kiffin anywhere close to a national championship.

This game is big for so many reasons. A good week of practice, a continuation of Dobbs honing his skills, and a huge turnout at Neyland sounds like a recipe for a win. Go Vols!!! VFL

They do...but it's not a high chance for any of the East teams to begin with.

Hope you are not serious. We have took every punch from some of the best teams in the country and continued to fight, and are still standing. Mizzu has lost to a 3-7 Indiana team and Georgia drummed them, both at their home stadium and barely got by Kentucky and Vandy. The only team they have beat is a Florida team that is not that good...ok, A&M is probably a fair team, but to say we are not better than them, the way we are playing now. C'mon!

I said earlier that they have a great coach, so I say CBJ is facing a very important game. If Mizzu had our schedule, they would be lucky to have our record. No way we should lose to this team at our house.

ESPN must think Missouri will lose this game because they predicted them to play Georgia Tech in the Belk Bowl.

Thinking that UGA would beat Bama in the SECCG? You are way underestimating SEC officiating. UGA would be wasting their time showing up.
The same for Auburn this year, if its close the flags fly to ensure a Bammer win.

Mizzu is going to be a dog fight. It's a game I think the Vols are perfectly capable of winning. But, unlike this week, I won't be predicting a 3 score win for Tennessee. I think playing them at Neyland will be the difference this year. Missouri finds ways to win games. They are well coached and the last thing we should do is take them lightly. With Vandy as the last game we are probably going bowling wither way. But I would much rather it happen this week. This game is important if for no other reason than winning 5 straight to end the year(Including the bowl) would be huge for the program. So the game is important but it would be just as important if we were playing someone other than Missouri.

We will most likely win the mizzou game, and I'm not sorry to say it.

Yeah, we def have more talent than Mizzou, but we lack in depth(in some key areas) and experience. Mizzou's had their system in place for a while now, which obviously means that their seniors have spent while our guys are just on year 2 of Butch implementation his system. Also, I'm guessing they're quite a bit more experienced than us. With that said, I think we have a good shot at pulling this one off at home.

Considering what Florida did to Georgia a few weeks ago, I'd say that Bama would just run the ball 30-40 times and win easy..

If I were Mizzou I'd be really worried about playing us right now after watching our offense the last two weeks. We should put 30 on them and our D is much better than A&M's. A&M's D is just plain bad. If Maty isn't on his game we could blow them out.

First, their ranking shouldn't really add much emphasis to the game (they're 19th in the AP). It's an SEC East matchup against a solid team that got us last year.

Second, how so many fans can be so overly optimistic to the point of ridiculous predicitions is insanity. Take a look at Missouri's record and see wins @ SC, @ UF, @ AM and it's evident this team plays it's best ball on the road.

I hope the stadium is jacked, I hope the team continues to play well, and I hope they pull out a win, but let's keep it real please.

so Tennessee fans should mark this game as a loss before it's even played?

As far as officiating in the SEC Champ game, I've always noticed that the team with no shot at the big game gets the calls in the first half to keep the audience watching and then there is a dramatic shift to the favored team. We're the only team to ever blow it back in 2001, but the refs didn't cause it in the 2nd half. We fumbled away every chance we got. They did hurt us in the first half a little too much. I think LSU scored a TD almost entirely on penalty yardage. We still would have won if broken-armed Stallworth had just gotten his butt on the ground!

If that's what you got from what I said, then I'm not sure what to say.

Fans shouldn't expect anything more than a tough game. All I've been seeing is talk about 7-5, and where we're going bowling like this game a sure thing. Well, it's not...
