Yes, the AD has to ask permission from the visiting AD prior to the season.

To me, that shows how much Danny White believes in the team that he would give permission for a white out before the season that his team would go into their house and take care of business.

That Is a big jump to make. Letting a team that went 2-10 last year wear a different color jersey isn’t exactly a statement that your team is going to compete for championships. It’s probably more of a gesture of goodwill to a team no one in the conference was worried about that could possibly be returned at some point down the road if something small arises.

Yes, they have to get permission which honestly I think is kind of dumb. I think the home team should be able to choose what jersey they wear as long as they give the team advanced notice and there's a lock in date where you can't change.

Most teams agree to it, like LSU has only ever had problems with Vandy not agreeing about 30 years ago when DiNardo went there and UF agreed on the condition that LSU wear purple at Gainesville the next year during Spurrier's tenure. Georgia Tech also usually wears white at home. Tulane had a dust up with Northwestern earlier this season, they wanted to wear white at home to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of Katrina and that season they had to play all road games and wore white all season. But Northwestern didn't agree to it.

It seems to be a new trend with more teams doing it this year. Auburn wore white at home a few weeks ago. I've always thought it was smart to wear white at home in the early season when it's still hot as the lighter color would give a slight heat advantage especially if the other team has a dark color.

To me if you're going to do a "white out" , Miss St. did it right; wear white at home and should be a stormtrooper type look. Penn St.'s makes no sense to me, if you're going to call it a "White Out" then wear white at home to match the fans. And Penn St.'s white uniforms are about the plainest in college football.

Pretty sure all the ADs in SEC agreed to let home team choose/the new rule so to speak. MSU did ask but think all schools have to acquiesce in the SEC to home school request on that now

I remember when CLK wanted to wear orange jerseys to match (Bama I think) dark jerseys but it wasn’t agreed to. He stated he almost did it anyway but, it would have been automatic 15 yard penalties to begin each half.

By wearing their dark uniforms Saturday, during a self-declared "white out", Penn St (and Franklin ) sent a message: we're too stupid to show support for our fans OR administration..IMHO he is, and always will be, a walking talking tampon.....

Vols clearly had 1/3 of the stadium covered. That is something very few teams can do.
