Not sure. but i know one thing if i ever want to start a thread just to see how many responses im gonna get im gonna start a rumor thread. over 600 in a little over 1 day wow.

Comparing "Rocky Top" to what some of these thugs rap is pathetic. Did you see the Osbourne Brothers riding around with glocks and pounds of weed and Cocaine? Rocky Top tells the history of life in East Tennessee and how they wish they were back there. Bend those four lines anyway you like, it doesnt compare to the promotion of killing, abuse of women, prostitution, that you hear in these gangsta raps.

It's better than a song about sitting on a pontoon boat with a farmer's tan drinking Miller High Life, which is what 90% of country songs seem to be about these days.

True! I dont hate all rap. Some of it is very good. I just dont like gangsta rap and what it promotes. You said you grew up in that, so you have to understand what I'm about to say. I saw that side of society for 12 years and its not pretty. So seeing it being promoted and glorified, upsets me.

Obviously you don't listen to country. Just like all types of music, which I like it all, it does have a lot of crap but not much about what you describe above.

No, I don't actually think that. I'm an avid music listener myself, but I was gearing more towards manufactured crap.

Just as most mainstream rock these days is about some dude's girlfriend cheating and most commercial rap is about picking up girls in clubs and macked out cars... see what I'm saying?

I'm a fan of gangsta rap, myself. I've either lived in Lonsdale or west Tennessee... it doesn't bother me, because that lifestyle exists with or without the music.

Rap is fine.....NWA and Public Enemy were great!

Anyone that compares Lil Wayne to Elvis is a moron! I understand the controversy comparison.......but Elvis is maybe the GREATEST entertainer in history....Lil Wayne is not even close to the best now, much less in history. I think it would be great for him to be a UT fan and be on the sidelines....so what!BUT...he is no Elvis!

It was just a generational comparison. I disagree with you on how great Elvis was... he just took rock n roll licks that had already been present and brought them to the masses. you see, he was white :)

The comparison was not Lil Wayne to Elvis. It was the REACTION to Lil Wayne to the REACTION of Elvis.

I would never compare the two. Elvis' drug problem was much worse.

BTW, agree on Public Enemy. Could we replace Lil Wayne with Chuck D?

I agree on NWA and Public Enemy. However Michael Jackson was the greatest artist/entertainer in history IMO, but as for as these day Lil Wayne is way up there if not the best.

How many that responded on this thread, made fun of Corine Brown and her "Go Gata"? Yet we are saying that it is Ok to allow a convicted felon to possibly stand on the sideline at a Tennessee game. That makes no sense to me!! How many refer to Miami U. as thug U or called Brandon Spikes a thug and that he should be suspended for the season, yet you think of this as OK. You overlook it only because it may benefit the Football team. Well, there is more important things in life than Football, and one of them is moral integrity. If these kids only want to play for Tennessee because some two-bit wanna be thug says he's a UT fan, then they can play somewhere else.
