I'll be able to play it when my brother finally gives up the %&$#in' PS2. Then I gotta beat it. I'll get back to you guys in about six months on that.

I have never really tried playing any of the Final Fantasy games. What is the point of them?

Very, very long and challening story-driven RPG's. For my money, the best game series of all time.

It's largely adventure based, the battle systems are all either real-time or turn-based.

I don't think one can call themselves a true video game fan until they've played Final Fantasy VII. If you haven't, go pick up a cheapy PS1 if you don't have a Sony system, and get a used copy of FFVII. You won't be dissappointed.

The problem with FF is all of the hype and the fact that quite a few of the games didn't live up to the bill. Saying that, FF7 is one of, if not, the best games of all time.

Sweet, good looking out.

I'm with milo on this, FF is one of if not the best series of RPG games.

Having said that, I hated FFXI.. I hope this one is better.

FF games are not for everyone. I personally don't care for them. I tried hard to get into 7 and the one after it but both left me bored after 5-10 hours. They are great games for sure, but not everyone will like them. If you've never played one before, I'd recommend renting it when you have a spare 5-10 hours. At that point, you'll either want to keep playing or you'll be bored to tears from reading some story you don't fully understand for 5 hours. There's usually a side game along with it (blitzball, card game, etc.) that you'll never fully understand and get frustrated with.

By no means am I knocking the game or the players.

It's important to keep in mind that FFXI was an MMORPG, a huge deviation from the series. It was Square Enix's semi-successful attempt at taking a chunk out of the WoW market. The rest of the FF games are offline.

I can agree with that statement.

Given that, it's still the best offline RPG ever made. All RPG games require a measure of patience and storyline comprehension. They're definitley not light plays, I think VII took me like 80 hours to beat?

True, but it still sucked.

Me too. They are like crack. Get hooked, and say goodbye to the real world.

yes- they are bad. I got sucked into WoW last year. Played it for about 3 months. I had to get away from it before it consumed me.

I've only played FFX... I got about 20 hours into and then just randomly put it down... I do prefer Kingdom Hearts (I & II) over FF series... although it's made the same people.

Since Square Enix developed it, Kingdom Hearts does have some RPG elements. But it's a true platformer.

I've really enjoyed this game so far. I like the new battle system. It was annoying having to wait for each battle scene to load. This is much better.

Whoa, whoa, whoa!!! The battles are now real-time?!

Yeah, you don't have to be walking along and have that shrill noise with the flash everytime there's a battle like in 10. This one is much better...

Anyone figured out how to kill that pesky flowered cactus yet? I keep getting the death of 1000 needles..

sweet! Is it like Chrono Trigger, in which you can see all the enemies you'll face before hand?
