Over the top to one of our all world talented WRs.

EVERYONE jumps our screens these days ... How many times did the damn Ohio bobcats jump the screen Saturday??

Agreed. Schematically, it's set up. The question is: can the OL hold up long enough for that route to develop? It's slow-forming.

Just twenty times, I would like to see Dobbs behind center on a third and 1 and get three yards on a QB sneak.

I'd like to see us come out in the power I and run the ball down their throats, but it's not happening. But to your post, Dobbs barely has time to throw the screen much less wait for that take off to take place with this OL playing as they are.

Didn't we do this last year with Kamara? Set it up with the screen and then did it again and threw it deep. Pretty sure Kamara got blown up since they bit so hard.

We actually tried something similar against VT. After a successful swing pass to Kamara we went to it again for no gain because the safety saw the play and jumped it. A few plays later that series we had Kamara run the same motion as both swing passes and Dobbs pump faked it then looked down field. Unfortunately VT had the play covered and I think Dobbs ended up scrambling for a few yards.

What else do you guys think Majors has been doing behind the scenes? We're gonna break out the Single Wing! That will throw the Florida defense for a loop. ;)

I think we see I formations Saturday. There should be a few wrinkles. We did it against NW and QBs practiced taking snaps under center yesterday.

I am anxious to see.

I think it has been tried a couple of times this year. And it has not worked yet.

I do remember the fake screen long pass to Pearson against Vandy last year.

Pretty sure this is what you're talking about. Kamara gets blasted but we scored.

At the 10:10 mark in the video we throw the swing route out to Kamara. Two plays later (about the 11:15 mark) we fake and go to Von.

I remember thinking this at the time, but why wasn't that a personal foul on Vandebilt? I would think Kamara would be a defenseless receiver at that point.

Refs must have missed that, it definetly should have been unnecessary roughness on that play.

Maybe Hall will give the O-line the spark it needs to protect our QB. Then your fake and fly might just work.

Nothing wrong with the quick screens against OU if the other WR/Slot/TE will actually make the block. Play is designed to get a 1 on 1 between the receiver and DB and is supposed to get you 5-8 yards, or if the receiver makes the DB miss, big yards. But again, the 2nd receiver out there has to make the block on the closest of the 2 DBs, which gives the receiver the ability to go to either side of the blocker depending on the side of the block the 2nd DB approaches from. Against OU there were a couple of major whiffs on blocks, one because Smith overran the blocker, who went behind him, and the other because Wolf was surprised by the DBs speed.

No pass interference behind the line of scrimmage apparently. See: when he got blown up during the VT game.

Not sure how you time that up. I know we have a play we run with some regularity where we fake a swing pass in the flat to a RB (did this last year vs Vandy on our first TD iirc) and then throw to a WR on a go-route. But I'm not sure how you truly fake a screen pass, where you're supposed to allow the DL through to pressure your QB, and then have the time to throw a true fly route.

Ahhhh ok, I was wondering if that had something to do with it. Mad props to Kamara for being able to lay his body on the line for this play to work. He must know he's going to get drilled quite a bit on this play.

3rd and short/ GL: Kongo heavy: double tight set Dobbs hands off to Hurd Kongo leading the way.

4th and short: FG: the mad hatter revisited: FG formation medley to kick there's the snap holder flips it over his head medley gets a big 1st down

2nd and 6: Byrd fly: Dobbs in the shotgun takes a snap flips it to Jennings who rips on a rope to Byrd

3rd and Knoxville: Punt: Punt

Now tell me why the bolded part won't work.

I was always a big fan of walking in the huddle and just calling "The Bomb". It may be to complicated for CBJ and Co. But it always got the other kids on the playground excited.

If that play fails, go with the double reverse. Works every time
