A player told me Butch threatened to leave in the lockerroom after the game. He told me that no one likes butch and he is hard to get a long with. The player mentioned that Butch needs to leave or fire Mahoney and some defensive guys or players will transfer. I'm not saying that I buy it all but this guy has become a friend I trust at least with the fact Butch threatened to leave.

Yeah... I'm sure what disgruntled fans say about an underperforming coach on a chat board that managed to first blow the SEC CG appearance and then a shot at the Sugar Bowl by losing to the two least talented teams in the SEC.... means a lot more than the coach's actual performance of his job.

It may impact recruiting but it is a 100% byproduct of a coach that failed this year to meet very reasonable expectations.

I'm a student here, grew up a Vol fan. I'm tired of the program going in circles. I've known a lot of players on an "inside" basis for 3 years but I haven't felt the need to share until I got fed up with Butch this year. I always felt this would be the reaction when I did post something. People would just question it and say it was BS. Jancek's son is one of my good friends and my friends went to high school with some players.

A coach doesn't have to be "liked". A coach DOES have to be respected. Jones has done much recently to erode respect.

Isn't it ironic, don't ya think? That Butch is on the recruiting trail since Saturday night and since then he has had 3 decommits.................?

Better options out there for Butch and Co.?

Well just like we all have said and think the players think Butch is only made for small schools and he wastes talent. He won't play the guys who are actually good.

One powerful tool UT has is playing more than half their games on national network TV (CBS) and almost any others on SEC Network at the least. If kids wanna be noticed and get national attention UT is a tremendous place to accomplish that.

For the way this team started...and the expectations and hype...to be currently out of the top 25 SHOULD be a massive indictment on Butch. Only saving grace is the injuries. It's how much value you place on the injuries which should determine how much value you place on Butch..cuz on the face of it....8-4...with the expectations we had for this team is totally inexcusable and unacceptable.
