Just like Bama

A lot of short term memories on here... Yes, they are proof that you only have to get it right once. They are also proof that is hard to hire a good coach. They got lucky with Saban. They had offered Rich Rodriguez. There are many similarities between the mistakes they made from 1996 and 2003 and what Tennessee has gone through since 2008... except for one - we were never buying players.

We have never been caught buying players, lest you forget T.

You didn't even mention their two separate stints on probation. We have had some bad coaches for sure. We've never had an Albert Means/Lynn Lang/Milton Kirk type situation.

NO mention of Antonio Langham; you can't mention Bama probation without him.

Alabama went 4-9 in 2003 with losses to Northern Illinois and Hawaii. They also had to fire a coach before he coached a game because he was banging a stripper he had just met at a t***y bar during SEC media days. They hired 8 head coaches between 1983 and 2006. They had a head coach leave them for Kentucky.

Is it really that stupid?

Just wait until they have their little down turn. The Shiano thing will be nothing in comparison. Rocks will be thrown through windows, matreses will be burned, innocent lives will be lost, and all of Bama will be in turmoil. It will be a glorious day.

From 1997-2006 (post Stallings/pre Saban), Alabama had an SEC record of 40-41. They had winning records over Mississippi, Mississippi State, Florida, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky and were .500 against South Carolina. (10 year period)

Since 2009 (post Fulmer), Tennessee has an SEC record of 23-49. They have winning records over Kentucky and Vanderbilt in that time frame. (9 year period)

If you are old enough to remember pre Saban, then you will notice we have taken an eerily similar course as the hated enemy. They had a decade of horrible football with terrible coaching hires. They had the Dooley with DuBose. They had Butch with Shula, ex. Good recruiter, bad coach. They even had a Schiano with Mike Price. So be patient, our paths might be changing to the good. It always cycles, it always has in this sport. GBO

Dubose won the SEC championship in 1999. Not even in the same conversation with Dooley.

I actually think our situation is closer to LSU. Curly Hallman was their Dooley and Gerry DiNardo was their Butch. Let's hope Pruitt turns out to be our Saban.

Great, great reminder of the cyclical nature of CFB powerhouse programs. I don't think it will be quite as quick as the turnaround was for Saban but I have high expectations for Pruitt's 2nd year (2nd or better in the east, with hopes of the SECCG)

It's worse than us to be honest. Hill poster has had too much bad shine and it's affecting his memory.

I miss Freddie Kitchens. Anyone remember Freddie Kitchens pass to Freddie Kitchens for a loss of 10+ yards?

:) Dude overthrew every deep ball he ever threw...My bammer family members still refer to overthrows as "kitchens"!

They are obviously doing things right to be where they are every year. Who wouldn't want to model their program after Bama or Clemson. Good leadership is key.

With all of the former Saban assistants being hired as SEC head coaches, soon SEC will stand for Saban Educated Coaches.
