"I'm really proud of our players because we were tired and we played like we were tired," Saban said. "And to me it was more physical than mental. But the good thing is that we can build on this."

And oh yeah... we also have the flu... and several of our players are either menstruating or feeling the effects of pre-menstrual syndrome. Tennessee was really lucky to be on the field with us today. We normally would have beaten them by 40.

He stooped to Meyer's level with those comments. He and Meyer are clearly scared of what Kiffin is doing on the recruiting trail so giving him credit for anything wasn't going to happen. I can't wait until Kiffin has his full compliment of players, the excuses should be epic by then. They'll probably be frame worthy.

The first paragraph he said, the 2nd is what you wanted him to say. We just played 8 games in a row and you complain about Coach Saban telling the truth about our players being tired. If you don't think fatigue played a roll in this game then obviously you know nothing about football. Ask any coach, 8 games in a row is alot and even Rolo said before the game that he didn't get his legs back under him until Thursday. I guess you just have to find something to complain about. You should be proud of the way UT played.

Sounded like a excuse. Good teams don't need excuses. Just admit it, he gave no credit to Tennessee and said the easiest thing he could to save face. Makes him look like a douche, no different than Meyer. Your going to hate Kiffin a lot worse than you every did Fulmer.

You have got to be kidding me. At least he didn't say it was the flu.

I don't think Saban's comments are even close to the excuse that Meyer threw up there.

Still... he could tip his hat. The Vols earned that. They won't do that because they're both afraid of what Kiffin and Company are going to do after we've recruited comparable athletes across the board to theirs.

Kiffin and Company have outcoached both Saban and Meyer. That is the reality... and they know it.

So much for Saban's famous off season conditioning program that was touted last year.

Gotta question?? It should be easy since it involves common sense.

We played 8 games in a row. Tennessee just got off a bye week.
Which team is healthier and has more rest??? Why are you guys pissed about him saying that his team was tired and it showed? I am just an Electrical Lineman that loves football and I could see that!

Saban is also coaching a team with a lot more depth. Kind of evens everything out. He is a good coach who was outcoached yesterday. Saban made some very questionable decisions.

so you're guys were tired. I get it. But it's about as good an excuse as us saying that if our original starting O-line was not injured, the fat kid wouldn't have blocked kicks. Or if our kicker hadn't hurt his leg earlier, he wouldn't have kicked low kicks. They played a good game, you're disappointed, and the vols by every indication should have won the game.

You want me to be disappointed so you might find favor in losing. Sorry, a win is a win. I could care less how we did it.
This whole thread was about Saban making an excuse when he was just saying the ovbvious. Nothing about me being upset about a win over our rival!

LOL.. Good game Vols. I knew it would be tough and it was. Congrats

My brother lived in Ft. Payne for a year. He was the happiest person on earth when the moving van showed up. He also to this day refuses to listen to Alabama when they come on the radio. Not a good year for him.

BTW - Congrats on the win.

You're right. And Saban should have approached it that way, but he didn't. First words out of his mouth were excuses. I didn't hear Lane make any excuses for losing, even though he could have plenty. Enjoy the win...

Not an excuse but i would have to say 8 games in a row before a big rivalary would make any team tired. No excuse because we still won but you can't over look facts.

So you agree then that if our best O-line player wasn't hurt earlier in the season we would have won.

More importantly, if Kiffin used the above line to the press you'd agree and say "well facts are facts"?

There are ways to give the opposing team credit and ways to blame a less than anticipated performance on other issues. Clearly Saban is doing the latter here. He didn't do it as bad as Meyer but he still attributed the performance more to other issues beyond how the opponent played.

This whole thread is complete BS. Here is what Saban said after the game:

"I have to give a lot of credit to Tennessee's players, they played hard and they were physical. They played tough, competed well in the game and it was a really good college football game. They had a good plan and did a good job of executing it."

Saban made NO excuses. He gave full credit to UT, and then he talked about how it's good that Bama has a bye week coming up, which is a simple fact. Not an excuse. This isn't Urban Meyer's pathetic, lame flu excuse. So get your facts straight before starting some ridiculous thread like this.

And stop the whining: Bama was in control, UT refused to sit there and just go through the motions at the end, and punched Bama in the mouth. Bama punched back with two blocked field goals. Great game. Bama wins, Vols lose. Deal with it.

with the depth ala. has,why would being tired even be brought up.sounds like your 2nd,3rd teamers are not that good or Saban just not playing them.only your starters are playing and everybody else is rideing the pine.

Healthier? Starting MLB Nick Reveiz..how many tackles? Vlad Richard and Josh McNeil..how'd they do? Wes Brown get those knees replaced yet? How's King's knee? Speaking of knees, Austin Rogers had how many catches? And oh yeah, Lincoln's quad...how was that?

Quit whining, douchetard!
