Just how important.......

cal has better talent at oline, qb, rb, and wr.

Cal most certainly does NOT have better talent at O-Line. Cals line couldn't contain UT's pass rush last year, and this year will be no different. Tennessee's O-Line on the other hand blew Cal's D-Line off the ball. The vols are loaded with 4 star players at O-Line.

Cal most certainly does NOT have better talent at QB. Ainge and Crompton are a better combo than anyone Cal has on their team at that position.

I don't quite understand why you think that Cal has better talent at RB. Foster and Vereen are the lowest rated at three star players. Coker was a five star, Hardesty and Creer were four star players. Cals running game was stuffed by Tennessee's linebackers and D-Line last year.

Cal will have the better, or should I say more proven WR corps this time around, but Tennessee has more raw talent with Vinson, and O Neil being 5 star players, and Jones and Paige being US Army All-Americans.

Cal is just a little less talented than South Carolina, and they would probably fare a little worse in a full season of SEC play than the Gamecocks.

sigh. I'm merle responding to those saying that Tenn has vastly superior talent based on recruiting rankings in particular.

Oline - Mack is a preseason all american on virtually every list. gibson is preseason all pac-10. Tepper was highly recruited.

QB - Cal has 4 elite 11 qbs on the roster, far more than tenn and any other university. By recruiting rankings cal clearly has better overall talent at qb.

RB - Montgomery, Slocum, Best, and Vareen were all high 4 star recruits.

WR - Jackson was one of the most highly recruited players in the country, hawkins was a 4 star by rivals, 5 star by scout.

Cal's recruiting has been far better than South Carolina's over the past 4 years.

Yet they managed to beat us at Neyland...

Uh no you don't there.Nate longshore isn't better than ainge, might be close but longshore isn't better.Running backs we are deeper and more talented.O-line this is probably a toss up.The only place you have a advantage is receiver.Thats only because of experience, because talent wise they are pretty even,i would say we have more and deeper talent pool there also.

UT clearly has the better top 2 QB's, which are likely the only ones to see the field.

And USC jr will be better than Cal in the near future if Spurrier stays, and I woudln't be surprised if they took down Cal head to head.
