...and then stays healthy.Yes, I absolutely believe that TN is a top 10 team. Although, I do think I have a fair feel for the Vols football team at the moment, I’m not going to be long winded on the many reasons that I believe this. I don’t presume to know nearly as much about this team as the knowledgeable Vol fans on this site. So I’ll stick to just the one clear and obvious reason that makes me confident that the Vols are Top 10.
That reason is very obviously that TN not only played well enough to beat GA, they in fact should have beaten GA! That’s tough for me to admit, but it’s true. I don’t think many knowledgeable football fans would doubt that GA is at least a top 10 team, therefore I find it difficult not to think the same about TN.
Going forward I expect that TN will only get better on both sides of the ball. Defensively bc one would hope that the Vols get healthier, which could translate into much improvement. On offense, bc I only see JA getting better the more he plays. It’s amazing that he has flourished in the little time he has had in this offense, and I truly expect he will improve on an already great start.
So that is very briefly why I think the Vols are top 10. The season is young and TN plays in the SEC so nothing is guaranteed, but at the moment, it wouldn’t surprise me if TN can compete with any team in the country, especially if the defense gets healthy.
There’s no true transitive property relationship in college football.. that said, I’d say 9-6 ishNew flip to this question. We beat an undefeated SEC team today for their only loss thus far. We were beaten (barely) by a previous unbeaten and #5 ranked team who was beaten today by a Florida State team that lost to an undefeated team last night.
Guys, just how good are we?
My thoughts exactly. I think that was our bad game. I hope it was. I hope we got it out of the way. I think we're a top 10 team with how explosive our offense and defense is. We need McCoy back to help on the back end.I think we're sort of a borderline top 10 team. 10 with a +/- margin of error of 5.
They are kissing Bama A$$ nowI hope the media polls continue to sleep on us. Almost every outlet predicting the AP Top 25 for this week has Alabama dropping down from #8 to #9 after their humiliating loss to an unranked FSU - which really only serves to discredit the ranking system. All of the pre-season unknowns regarding Aguilar can now be put to rest. He's better than what we would have had and he's clearly built to thrive within a tempo offense. I'm looking forward to getting our second warm-up game in (ETSU) and then seeing where we are when Georgia comes to Neyland.
Exactly - Georgia is a missed FG from being 2-2 but they managed to win…GT won yesterday on a failed 2 point conversion in a game where they didn’t play well…you have to have Lady Luck with you along the way to have a championship season…Arkansas fumbled away two very winnable games and could easily be 4-1 right now…the margin between the championship teams and the also rans is thinner than most think. Our game yesterday is testament to that…The fact is you’re going to have to win games like this to be a championship team. It’s pretty rare to go through past national championship seasons without finding 1-2 gritty wins against opponents that would have been presumed “easy wins.”
I’m not saying this game makes us NC caliber, but great teams go on the road and find a way to win.
If McCoy comes back we just may be elite before it’s all over
