Mods feel free to move to proper forum if needed. But I think this is an interesting topic.

As everyone knows there is a group trying to get Peyton Manning to the Titans. I was discussing the idea on a Titans message board I frequent. A couple of posters on there are under the belief that UT football is not that big in Nashville. According to some of them, the Titans are numbero uno and the Vols are a distant second. Being from Nashville, I disagree. What say you fellow Middle Tennessee posters? West Tennesseans feel free to include your opinion as well.

Im from WEST TN...... I'm a Vol fan and currently a Colts fan, but it sounds like I will changing loyalty soon.
Never really liked Blue but I wore it for Manning. Sure not going to wear Baby Blue for no good reason.

i'm from southern middle tn, lawrence co. to be exact. The Vols are number 1 around here. There's quite a few titans fans, and bammers, but the vols are clearly number 1 in these parts. It's not even close.

The Vols were here long before the "Oilers" and will be long after they are gone!!

Amen brotha being from west Tennessee and how Bud Adams got pissed off at Memphis because all Steeler fans showed up at a supposedly home game was epic. Can't stand the Oilers.

Same reason I loathe the Titans

I grew up about an hour north of Nashville, and it's all Vol there. The Titans are not even my favorite professional team. I'll take UT over the Titans any day.

Titans fans outnumber Vol fans 3 to 1 in Middle TN. Most of the Bama, AU, UK, UF, UGA, & Vandy fans in the area pull for the Titans

I live in Gallatin. During the football season, people will talk about the Titans in a casual way. A greater number of people will passionately talk about the Vols and what will happen on Saturday. I think UT is still bigger team in the mid-state.

Hope folks in Nashville have Super Bowl XXXIV on DVD cause thats the last time they'll see their beloved rejects from Houston in the big game.

A group trying to get Manning to Nashville??? LOL

Unfortunately, that's not how it works in the NFL. At times, fans' wishes might be catered to, but those are isolated instances and very rarely, if ever, has any impact on player personnel. That group of fans clamoring for Manning has no real say so and it's likely(more like certain), their voices will go through one ear and out the other of Titans' management. If Manning is available, they might make a play for him, but it's likely they aren't going to kick Hasselbeck to the curb.

The size of the fanbases aren't comparable and any informed fan will tell you the same thing. The Titans have a nice fanbase in Mid Tenn, but it is nowhere near the level of UT. It's almost funny some of their fans think so.

Lol, if the Oilers were that good then they would not have been run out of Texas. Now the Titans are pretty much on par with the Texans. Now ask yourself are the Texans a big deal?

I would agree with this. I am not saying Peyton will come play for the Titans nor am I saying the Titans will make a play for him. I am merely wanting to know everyone's opinions regarding the fanbase. I am a huge Titans fan. Been going to games since they came here. But I will always bleed orange.

Even if the fanbase is larger. I'd say UT fans are far more passionate than Titans fans in the area. (Not saying there are not really, really passionate Titans fans). I see a lot more UT merchandise worn in the area than Titans. Just sayin.
