While Dobbs hasn't done much through the air this year, I certainly don't put all that lack of production on him. But given our WR corps & running game, what we've seen so far is inexcusable even with a subpar OL.

Last year we finished 116th nationally (and dead last in the SEC) with 10.37 passing yards per completion. So far this year, Dobbs has averaged 10.1 ypc. Across the nation, 61 QBs have averaged at least 12 ypc.

Against Bowling Green & Western Carolina, Dobbs had a gaudy passing efficiency rating of 168.64 (30 of 43 for 349 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs).

Facing Oklahoma & Florida, Dobbs had a combined rating of 87.03 (23 of 48 for 208 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT).

So far this season 98 QBs have completed 21 or more passes for 10+ yards, including 28 QBs who've only played in 2 or 3 games. Dobbs has thrown just 20 completions for 10+ yards.

101 QBs have completed at least 7 passes for 20+ yards; Dobbs has completed 5.

Zach Azzanni in a Youtube interview this spring: "I’m in charge of making sure I game plan the passing game. Our third down, our red zone. We do a lot of things as a staff, but ultimately, I’m the one at the forefront of breaking it down, giving suggestions. In practice, I’ll set up routes on air, script 7-on-7, those kinds of things that relate to the passing game."
Zach Azzanni describes the role of a passing game coordinator

IMO, Azzanni's credentials to oversee our passing game are questionable at best. As Western Kentucky's OC for one year (2011), his passing offense finished 101st nationally in yards per game and 99th in passing efficiency. The year after he left, WKU jumped to 26th in passing efficiency.

At Florida in 2010, Azzanni served as passing game coordinator & WR coach. The Gators finished 88th in passing yards per game and 94th in passing efficiency.

You can't fault the oline when teams stack the box. The safeties were 8 yards or less from the line of scrimmage, the linebackers for UF were on top of their own linemen. Quit blaming the oline. No oline can beat 8 players coming to the backfield.

It seems to be that Dobbs has gone backwards with his passing. I don't know if that's because of DeBord or what, but it seemed like last year he was throwing some deep passes

It's non-existent. Our QB was the leading receiver yesterday. Would love to know how many targets each receiver has had this season.

this offense has NO business being this bad. Show me a HC who gets EVERYONE back and has a showing like the vols have had this year. funny how the last 2 drives dobbs throws strikes. thank you dobbs for growing a pair of nuts and throwing a bomb instead of a vag screen on one play.

Dobbs is 98th in passing yards. Technically, he's ahead of Jeremy Johnson.

Bowling Green's qb is first as an interesting tidbit for all those that still want to blame the defense.

Go back and look at when Kamara got clocked on the pass that they thought was a fumble and look at the top right of your t.v. screen and you will see a receiver with no one within 10 yards of him ! Should of been 6 on that play if Dobbs would have looked DOWN field .

Why didn't Butch over ride some of those running plays in the 4th quarter? We hardly passed the ball in the 2nd half & relied on the run which is using up the clock. But that game plan didn't work so well either. We have 4* players in the receiving dept but hardly even used it.

yes. towards the end of last season they were clicking on all cylinders. cant believe we get a season where we get everyone back and stink it up. that tells you the new oc is trash. also dobbs had way more freedom at the LOS last year. they have hand cuffed him in every way, running and passing. lucky dobbs made some plays with his feet to keep us ahead. it is vital to any offense to let the qb make his own reads. gotta be able to make the change at the LOS. look at peyton this year, with his new oc. thats a great example.

Because this is Butch's offense. DeBord is nothing more than Fulmer's Dave Clawson.

How can you judge it. We never one time all day dripped back and threw a 30 yard pass downfield. Not once all day. We have three 5* receivers and a good qb and we never attempted it once!

They weren't clicking on all cylinders, they were playing really piss poor teams

BG is killing it right now. they looked good beating Purdue and Maryland.

We don't have one WR that has cracked 100 yds on the season. How many defect if this continues is the only question now. This has to be corrected. We have to balance the offense.

2 of the 3 best passing plays against Florida were trick plays. We do not have a passing game, we have Dobbs at the wildcat position.

So, the question is -- how much of this is Dobbs and how much the o line?

thats not the point. the point is they were throwing the football. Thats how the offense should look, it doesn't matter who they are playing. i gotta feeling if we were to play those teams with this OC, it would be a very different outcome. if you don't try the deep ball, the defense doesn't respect the deep ball, thats what happened yesterday. They were bringing all kinds of DBs, leaving the Wrs wide open. i just can't get over having the entire offense back, and regressing like we have.

It's a lot easier to throw the ball against scrum. I agree we should throw it, but when I see Dobbs throw it, he scares the crap out of me.

i think its 0. the last 3 drives UF brought the entire secondary into the box, leaving all kinds of Wrs open. they don't allow him to make the changes needed to burn a defense. last years OC and Dobbs would've ate that for lunch.

He missed Josh Smith on what might have been a 60 yard TD. Smith was wide open and in full stride the throw was over his head he had to stop do a 180 degree jump and got his hands on it maybe could have been caught but would have been a amazing catch.
Threw behind North on a 5 yard crossin pattern M North had to reach behind and got rocked by a tackler as he was doing so it put him in a bad position to get hurt.
but Dobbs is a great running QB but fumbles a lot we did get lucky on 2 of them rolling out of bounds.
