Just got back from Montana...

How is him presenting facts, spinning?
Posted via VolNation Mobile

He's not...he is taking comments from a Montana fan board, and trying to attribute them to me. Thats flat out false, and nonfactual. So let me repeat...

--No one that I know (except for one Vol fan in Maryville) has said they believe the Grizzlies would win, that would be in my verbal conversations.

-- And on this board only a couple have said it seriously, and I think 2 of them were Vol fans.

-- I actually had never read that thread until a couple of hrs ago. Sure some are predicting a win there, but are we so naive here that you dont think that people would not post they think they would win there. But do they honestly believe that? Probably not....but in either scenario I was not referring to that post.

Those the facts...now watch for the spin.

Ordigger, With respect to the deeply rooted rivalry with Idaho, did Montana formerly have a similar tradition with the state university to the south, the University of Wyoming Cowboys? If so, how often did they play them and roughly what is the head-to-head record in that series?

Wyoming is Montana State's other rival. I dont really know our history with them. Not even sure we played them recently unless I looked it home, maybe in the 90s.

Don't care.

Just be sure to tell AlphaGriz he is a bigger piece of crap than a bucket of turds next time you're on the Montana forum. Thanks in advance

Can I take a crack at it? I'm at work so dont have some links I can look at but I do have some comments in regard to this remark.

Idaho had not "just moved", in fact they left the Big Sky in 1995 about the same time as Boise State, and Nevada-Reno (who I think left a year earlier).
You are right. From 96 to 00, they were part of the
"Big West Conference"... that's what confused me. They are an obscure mid-major that doesn't even sponsor football anymore. They stopped in 00.

Congrats. From 96 to 00 the Vandals were a mediocre team in a failing mid-major football conference.

Does it matter what their record is? Bottom line they were FBS.
Ummm, yeah... it kind of does. You are making a big deal out of beating an FBS team 8 years ago who was absolutely horrible at the time. Not exactly like you were beating someone even the quality of Vandy or Duke.

Now if you want to argue and say we didn't play a BCS schools then fine, and I understand but schools in the WAC, MWC, MAC, etc are all FBS schools and a win against any of them is a win against a FBS.
OK. Olive branch accepted. BCS it is.

I love how people dis this win, and that loss. Its sort of like saying we almost beat Washington State when they had Drew Bledsoe...oh wait we did almost beat them. See? Sounds horrible. A win against ANY FBS is a win against FBS even if its a school like Western KY.

Oh. OK. A win over one FBS school is just as good as any other... so a win over WKU is the same as a win over UT or Bama for that matter. You bet.

You are talking yourself into a corner where you are going to look like a fool for admitting you are wrong... or like a bigger one for not admitting you are wrong.

Wrong on both accounts. App St is consistently one of the best FCS teams with a history of very good players. "Michigan is, well, Michigan?" UT has a comparable record over the last 10 years without the benefit of about 4 Vandy's on their schedule- (Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and sometimes Purdue and/or NW.)

I really don't know of anyone who respects Michigan right now.

You bet. Do you work hard to be that way or does it just come natural?

Over the last three years, Montana has played for the National Championship twice and App zero.

I would put us at the same level, but if you would like to see our last matchup, here it is. I was there. Drove 500 miles to sit in 0 degree weather. Was an absolute blast of a game and time in Missoula. If you don't care to watch the whole thing, at least watch the first 2 minutes as there is a big hit at 1:50.

I actually have nothing against Montana and like their brand of football... Don't like some of the ignorance being posted here though.
