Just For Fun What Would You Add to the Offense?

-Pistol formation with more zone blocking
-Block DE if you're not going to keep him honest on the read
-More rb screens, we're already pretty good at letting defenders get by

Slant routes. Yes, I know, slant routes are more dangerous because if something goes wrong it goes wrong in a crowd. Yes, I know that slant routes go against the zone read philosophy which wants the defense spread toward the sidelines. Yes, I know that slant routes require a very disciplined receiver and a QB who releases the ball quickly believing the receiver will be there. Yes, I know all this.

But I keep remembering that slant routes made Joe Montana the greatest QB in the world and won Danny Wuerffel a National Championship and allowed Steve Spurrier to beat Peyton and Phil over and over.

I like slant routes.

We need to have the QB under center in our playbook. We need to have in the playbook an I formation power behind the fullback quickly ( no slow hand-offs). ... and a key component to go along with it is a disciplined OL that can go on whatever count the ball is to be snapped on without movement. Vary the count as necessary.

If you know the count and the hole - and the D does not, you can pick up a yard even when outmanned. The only real chance for the D to beat that is to guess - at the snap count ( if they're wrong, first down ) or hole you're going to ( if they're wrong, big play).

If they play it straight and wait for the snap, they are .5 second behind and you get the yard.

Here you are again after bad mouthing the team in another thread. Just go be an auburn fan and stop putting down Tennessee.

I added what I wanted. That's what would win.

I would throw to the middle of the field with the Tight End. I would drag the Tight End across the field short. I would have a blocking fullback like most great Backs had in the past. No more zone reads with the QB and RB it doesn't work when the QB doesn't keep it every now and then. I've allways liked 2 power backs leading the way outside with tailback running the ball. Also you can fake it and throw over the top of the middle of the field to a the post to a wide open Malone. I would like to see a banana flag thrown to Crooms or North. Maybe throw in a J-flag to them as well.

Don't see you shaking your mom jeans at the others for saying they want Nebraska's or Alabama's o line.

No difference, slick.

Your posts in every thread were nothing but bashing the team. I just don't understand if you hate the team and coaches, then why waste your time? Just asking slick.

A better QB and an O-line. I'd make it a priority to find a JUCO QB and a replacement for at least Coleman Thomas for next year. The thought of Peterman or Dobbs starting is scary.

My posts in this thread simply stated that Auburn's coaches know how to coach an offense. That's hardly in doubt. So I wouldn't go so far as to say that constitutes "bashing" of anyone.

I agree the offense needs improvements, but some of the comments sure do seem more than negative. If I misunderstood this and your loss by loss comments in another thread as just bashing, then hey I apologize. Since Saturday I just don't understand those who claim to be done are still around posting negative stuff. If that's not your intent then my bad, but those comments and other folks do seem negative. Nothing personal, I'm unhappy with what happened also. I want things better, maybe I just misunderstood.

If you wanna come at me for negative comments in another thread, please go to that thread and flame away. I never said I was done. Never. I'm negative as hell, but never said I'm done.

And my comment in here was as truthful as I could be. I wish those guys were coaching this team. That offense would look great in Orange.

And the loss by loss comment was from the "Butch tells fans... thread"

Thanks for responding.

Pull the center and guard and do some power sweeps. More wildcat. Long crossing patterns. Put in the fullback.

Saw auburn put a guy outside the tackle. That made the tackle eligible. He went uncovered for a pass TD.

We will have to be creative to score some points is certain games.

Use those BIG receivers on some quick slants.
