for some reason, i felt like we would've been to more than just 15 different bowls.

and technically, 14 because the Hall of Fame Bowl evolved into the Outback Bowl

Same here. I was really shocked when I looked at the records.

I think we've still been to the 5th most bowls total though.

Yep a lot of Bowls now
In 1950 there were 9 Bowl games, 1 All-star game
In 1960 there were 12 Bowl games 1 All-star game
In 1970 there were 11 Bowl games 1 All-star game
In 2021 there were 39 Bowl games & 5 All-Star games
Watered down some. 65 P5 teams 78 teams are eligible for Bowl games & 65 G5 Group of 5
To borrow an SEC Slogan in 1950 Bowls just meant more.

I was there for that Peach Bowl victory. IMO, Tennessee should own that Bowl in future years. When invited, win.

The more I think about it, it's not really that surprising. It's only been in the last 10-15 years where there's been a ton of bowls added. For the longest time, there were fewer than 20 bowl games. In 1985, for example, there were only 18 bowl games. Jump forward to 1998, there were 22 bowl games.
