Just doing some quick comparisons

I think there will be a lot of national overreactions and recency bias with Auburn losing lately, Florida dominating bama, etc, but I still think Auburn is the best team in the country.
Auburn has lost 3 out of the last 4. And to be honest, they have had a favorable SEC schedule. They got to play both Florida and Tennessee at home with no return trip.

If we win tomorrow, we'll have almost as many Q1 wins as Florida played Q1 games plus will have beaten them 2 times in the last month. Them having one less loss shouldn't be able to offset our tougher schedule and head to head wins, however we've seen this same story before and we always end up on the short side of it.

You all absolutely earned it. Your nonconference schedule is the only knock against you but I’d say 3-0 against Bama and Auburn on the road offsets that. If we were only 1 loss worse than you tomorrow would matter but you’re 2 games better. That’s too much.
One overall game would separate us and we would have beaten them twice , a better SOS, and have 2 more Quad1 wins. Palm believes winner gets the #1 seed.
There's certainly a case to be made.
I want to win either was so we get the guaranteed overall 5 spot.

Florida has beaten Auburn, Alabama, and Tennessee.

They're about to beat Alabama again.

The big problem for Tennessee at this point is the eye test is going to matter. I've been worried my being an alumnus and fan was clouding my judgment, but I'm past that. Florida's the best team in the SEC. I'd argue they're the best team in the country.

None of this means they won't lose tomorrow or in the NCAA tournament, but I've seen enough to come to that conclusion.

The committee may have as well
I agree.

I have been the one to argue the tournament was going to matter and it has.

The question is….does this last game matter?

I don’t know. I have a feeling it won’t, but we’ll only know if Tennessee wins

We have that locked up now with Bama and Michigan State losing. All good there. I hope we win so we can find out if it does truly matter, that and losing sucks of course.

I think Florida is the deepest and most balanced team in the country. Todd Golden is the wildcard, for me.
Florida also has a much more balanced emotionally healthy team. That does make a difference. Broome barking at his own teammates after Vols scored buckets, etc.

They played a ridiculously tough nonconference schedule though.

you gotta think winning the SEC Tourney matters - that and a head to head advantage.

gotta win the game to find out

Flordia beating Bama minus Nelson.
Not to mention if we were to do to Florida what we did in Knoxville there will be a completely new narrative tomorrow.
Alabama ✔️ Auburn ✔️ Flordia x 2 ✔️
i.e Maybe that orange team from Knoxville is a better team than we've been giving them credit for.

Vols have clearly gotten better as the season has progressed. Tomorrow is another test, but that’s what the SEC has been all season. We are certainly battle tested…as are rest of the conference teams.

Tomorrow will tell us which team is playing the best basketball down the stretch. Both of these teams are playing good basketball right now.

But no matter the outcome, I don’t think any of the Top-4 SEC teams have that much separation.

Noted, however, that Auburn and Alabama have slid a bit down the stretch.

I'm going by eye test.

IMO....

Florida is the best. I know you'll think I'm lying, but I think Tennessee is 2. Auburn 3 and Alabama 4.

Alabama is a gimmick team that overwhelms you with pace. One of the reasons Florida is a problem for them is that they are deeper and can run better than Bama. So, they're done from the get go. Not to mention teams that can slow them down and force them to play in the half court

Auburn out muscles people and when they play someone with equivalent muscle they have a problem.

Tennessee has some flaws, but when they are right can impose their will defensively on anybody. They don't fold when an opponent pushes back.

That's how I see it.

If agree. Top to bottom, I think Florida is the most talented team, Duke with Flagg right behind. I'd also argue TN is the toughest team.

Vols should be highest #2 even if we lose tomorrow. If we win...I don't know, I see the argument either way b/t us and Florida.

The original post made the claim that "we are the only team to beat the 3 bigs in the conference".

My reply was to point out that the statement was incorrect as Florida has done the same.

Florida is the last 1-seed. The committee isn’t jumping Tennessee to the 1-line tomorrow even if we win.

But when you look at it, Vols have more Q1 wins and with a win tomorrow will have more Q1A wins. Florida is higher in NET and KenPom and some other metrics but when it comes to the Quad system, Vols would have the upper hand IMO.

Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Alabama against each other.

W L
Tennessee : Auburn, Fla, Ala Auburn, Fla. 3-2
Alabama : Auburn Auburn, Tn, Fla 1-3
Auburn : Tn, Ala Tn, Fla, Ala 1-3
Florida : Tn Tn 1 -1

We are the only team to beat the other Bigs in this conference. We have the best overall record. We don't play anyone we haven't already beaten. It's a 4 team wire to wire finish and I don't see anything indicating that we can't win it all. Now just waiting to see the results of this Fla/bama game. Oh, our two losses were on the road. We will have home field advantage tomorrow.

Well it messed up my stone age formatting but I think you can make it out.
Auburn is 2-3. They beat us once and beat Bama once.

What you’re overlooking is Auburn’s other 14 Quad One wins. Nobody else is close.

Winning the tournament for arguably the best conference in NCAA history should absolutely mean we’re a top seed. The fact that it’s such a long shot is a testament to how good this conference is.

They had UK 2x, AM on the road and Bama 2x. The schedules are comparable.
