Does freebasing coke, catching half your body on fire and then running out of your LA house and down the street constitute "being a fool" ?Remember the wise words of one of Richard Pryor’s sketches when he was playing an old man. Said one of the wisest things you’ll ever hear: “You don’t get old by being a fool. I know a lot of young wise men, they deader than an mf’er.” Words to live by.
I have seen several people on here say they are willing to take that risk but my guess is that not everyone you interact with in a regular basis feels the same way and your actions may put those individuals at risk.
Anyone who has ever been in a crowd has put themselves, and by extension other individuals, at “risk” of contracting a variety of illnesses. Funnily enough, that never put a damper on things until this trivial virus proved to be the perfect bogeyman to amplify the fearmongering efforts of some very sad people.
Some of us who are not seniors still have folks in our lives who are. We may have family members who are more vulnerable than others,,,,,,and some of us are not selfish azzhats.
This virus doesn’t give a rats aas if you are an American or a citizen of any other Country. Just be thankful that you have a life to live and, if you are wise, take some steps to remain healthy and live to be a senior citizen.Attend? YOU BET! I refuse to bow to fear mongering for the equivalent of a normal ailment. Remy hits it on the head!
Better get your facts straight if you are going to encourage people to risk their lives by gathering in large crowds. Smallpox killed millions of people before a vaccine to prevent it was developed. That vaccine was available before I entered grammars school in the Fall of 1942. Polio was very infectious with millions of cases each year until the vaccines were developed. Fortunately only about 10 percent of polio cases are paralytic and must cases were sub-clinical, or were so mild that the cases were not known. This occurred because most cases were in infants and children under the age of 5-6 and were partially protected by maternal antibodies received from their mothers and had not disappeared in their blood. If you care so little about your life, then go right ahead at foolishly. You may not be infected by COVID-19, but if you are exposed , you most likely become infected because it is very infectious and you have no antibodies nor is there any vaccine to protect you. Good luck.
Again, opinions are not facts no sense. Facts are, smallpox was much more deadly than this virus, but polio is/ was not as deadly. No one is asking that anyone hide under beds and if you are so self centered to contribute to the death of your fellow Americans, friends, neighbors, love ones, and people who have immunodeficiencies, then you go right ahead. It's foolish IMO to act as if this current wave of virus was more virulent or deadly than was either smallpox or polio. THE point is when those two scourges were ravaging this nation commerce nor gathering were shut down. Here we are in the 21st century and a virus that kills less than 3% of everyone that is infected shuts down the globe. We have adults IMO acting as if they're scared of this boogeyman. Act as rational adults, take the best precautions you can, and get out there and live your lives, not hide under your beds hoping the wagon comes by and dishes you out some gruel from the royals. I was vaccinated as child for small pox and polio both. Yet somehow the US government decided I needed to be vaccinated twice again, once in miltary basic training, and once when on civilian assignment. I have lived, as in years, in areas of the globe where polio was operative and had my vaccinations tested and saw where smallpox was eventually eradicated but not prior to my being on some of the continents where it was still taking lives. I have trod every continent on this planet with the only exception being the Antarctic and I've been close as I've visited Ushuaia, Argentina. Quit being children and live your lives boldly not on your knees shaking. What the hell if Lewis & Clark or Davey Crockett said, "Hell no, we aren't going anywhere until they get this smallpox thing taken care of?" Here's the real problem, you have the freedom to take the gruel and shake under your bed all you want. However, it's your requirement I forsake my individual rights and get under there with you and shake as well, that ain't happening for me nor for many other freedom loving Americans.

The U S has 4.3 percent of the World’s population it has 31.2 percent of the Worlds case and 23.8 percent of the deaths from this virus. Without the precautions when have been taken during the last 4 weeks, these figures would be at least 4 times greater. As far as testing, testing supplies have been promised for 6 weeks and are just now being delivered. In addition these test have over 25 percent false negatives Blood test to test immunity are just beginning and of the more than 20 companies who are supplying their different tests, only 4 have Ben approved by the FDA. No one has any idea if the majority of these test are accurate. We are trying to catch up in the battle against this novel virus, but we can not defeat it by not respecting it and let hast crest waste. We have no proven treatment or a vaccine. The other problem is that without a treatment or a vaccine, one can expect the pandemic to last for at least another year or two. If this corona visual has the same hemp of its cousin’s, the cold virus, we may not have a vaccine for a number of years. Remember, it took over 20 years to develop an effective treatment for the last novel virus ( AIDS ) to be developed, and we still do not have a vaccine for it.Spreading fear like you are is just as damaging. Very small % of the population are testing positive. Nearly 60% of positive cases are in 2 areas of the country. The same country that has basically been locked down for a month
Sometimes, facts are scary, but they are still facts. I would rather know the fact so I/we can be better prepared to face them. If you went to your doctor and he/ she discovered you had sever cardiac disease, would you want to know that you would likely die in the next month?Spreading fear like you are is just as damaging. Hopefully you aren’t insinuating that I am fearmongering because that is not my intent. I am only writing about basic, common sense concerns with returning to large crowds while a highly contagious virus most of us have no antibodies for is out there. I think your major difference with my view is your use of the term “trivial virus” which indicates the COVID-19 infection rate, hospitalization rate, and mortality rate are not something worthy of serious consideration. You are welcome to that view but I don’t think the information amassed so far by the medical community agrees with that view. The idea of not being in the stadium this year devastates me but I just can’t see myself attending, even if it is open, if these same circumstances are still in place come fall.
All I am saying is that we are dealing with an unknown virus and we have to learn the epidemiology of this virus before we develop an attack against it. It has demonstrated that is very contagious and can be deadly. As more is being learned, death is not the only sequelae from this virus. Those who recover can have permanent reduction in lung capacity, Irregular heart beats, mental conditions among other problems. The point is this a virus which needs to be respected and studied until we can learn more about it. You are correct in that we do not know how many cases have occurred and how many deaths will occur. In the past, only about 10 percent of cases of reportable diseases are reported. Cause of death is often reported without scientific testing. I am not trying to scare anyone, but I do think people should know what is going on. I don’t intend to frighten anyone. Just the facts as we know them.First
It took people who could read one message to keep from contracting Aids. Comparing a virus that is possible to spread just in regular contact to one spread by unprotected sex and intravenous drug use is preposterous.
Second if the tests are as unreliable as you say then quoting them does nothing to help your assertion. The numbers are as high as they are because unlike China we are overly open about test results. The numbers you cite also include Covid 19 death counts because people "think" they had the virus. Large scale % of the population not being tested are because people are not showing symptoms. But hold up in your house forever if you think it increases your chance of contracting it. The rest of us are ready go to work.

I don't think anyone is doubting the fact that Covid-19 results in death for human beings...just like other known viruses and bacteria.
However, you incorrectly assume that your immune system has no ability to fight Covid-19 off.
The majority of people who are infected with Covid-19 have immune systems that effectively contain and kill the virus without any medical intervention.
How else do you think over 80-90% of the people survive Covid infection without being hospitalized??????
Your immune system fights off hundreds of threats to you every single day--from cancer cells to bacteria, viruses, gene mutations, etc...etc...etc.
It's just funny how that fact gets lost in all of these discussions.
The death rate for Covid is calculated as the percentage of people who have died (numerator) in comparison with those who have confirmed cases of Covid (denominator).
But the TRUTH is that we don't know the actual amount of people who have been or are now infected with Covid-19 without being able to test and quantify this number (denominator)!
And if you don't have an accurate number of TOTAL people who have been infected with the virus--then you cannot truly determine an actual death rate!
And with no accurate measure of the death rate....Public Officials fill the gap with projection models that scare us, rob us of our civil liberties, and practically destroy our nation's economy.
Oops, our projections were wrong because models are one thing, but true data is what we trust.
The livelihoods of over 100 million people hang in that balance of "educated guesses" made by Fauci et. al.....
It's no wonder people are beginning to protest this lunacy.
