Where would this weeks game against Florida rank if we come away with a ''W'' considering how low we have been the past few years? Comparable to 98? 2001?

I would honestly say it would be about where the 2003 win was. Yes, I know that it's been longer than that since we've beaten Florida, and yes I know that Florida is ranked and the Vols aren't. However, I'm still skeptically optimistic about this season. A win against Florida will not have the significance that 1998 (in hindsight) and 2001 (hindsight and at the time) had at the time. This is especially true with having to play at Bama and Arkansas, and a very strong LSU team.

Always is great to beat the Gators, but in the big scheme of things (this season only, not bragging rights for the year) beating Florida may not be that big of a deal until the end of the season. If the Vols end up in a tie for the East like in 2007, then the significance of this game will greatly increase, of course.

A huge psychological boost for the team after not beating them in so many years. Especially being an away game.

It would be a moment of intense pride for me. After all our fans have been through in the past few years, it would be a signal that Tennessee simply cannot be held down for long, and that we are strong enough to overcome essentially anything. It would be a reaffirmation in no uncertain terms that we are back. We've all seen the progress and felt the momentum, but this would be irrefutable evidence that things have gotten better much sooner than most of us could've anticipated.

It would clearly indicate that we are on the right track to restoring Tennessee’s program to its rightful place among the nation’s elite. I agree that comparison to our 2003 victory in Gainesville would be appropriate. Although it is too early to draw definitive conclusions, this year’s Florida squad does not appear to be nearly as powerful as the 1998 or 2001 teams.

It would also be nice to see a little number in front of "Tennessee" when our schedule and scores pop up in the media...for the first time in a couple of years.
