Google is showing 16 miles now I checked but I was going off the reservation operator :eek:hmy:

I still think 30 mins to the game is worth spending 2 days on the beach at what looks to be a nice place. I hope there will be some VFL's there with me to watch the new years day bowls!:dance2:

What I'm telling you is if you take Butler you will get downtown faster than on Beach or Atlantic.

Yes, its farther, but there aint 100 red lights and massive traffice between you and the stadium.

Fairfield Inn by Marriott in Jax West. About 160 per night. Staying two, but may change if the band is in a parade on New Year's Day. They've got an indoor pool, a rarity in Fla.

AV

Jax West? Are you insane?

I'm glad you're not my travel agent, you dont want to be out there, trust me.

You know, that's one reason I like staying at Sheraton, Four Points, or the Westin. They always have a solid bar.

There's a cool sports bar just across the street from the Sheraton, as well as a Crab Shack.

Wrong, 75 to I-10.

Negative. Quicker to go 75 south and then get on I-16 east in Macon to Savannah and then I-95 south. I drive these roads everyday.

I-95 also gives you a lot more options as far as places to stop/stay on the coast from Savannah to Jax.

Appears as though the Jacksonville economy is getting a NY boost. Wonder if there are any rooms for the Iowa boys and girls...

Just looked at Mapquest . . . It depends slightly on where you want to go in Jax, but It's 283 miles going I-16 and 284 miles going I-75. The difference is that you can go a little faster on I-16 and there's more stuff to do once you get to I-95.

I'm getting the idea I should never use google maps cause its given me 5 different results, and now from an exact starting point to downtown its showing the 16 route to be 18 miles shorter, which I know for a fact is not the case.

However ya'll get here is fine with me, I'm just excited about hosting a bowl game again.

Distance-wise, it's basically the same give or take a few miles to downtown. Closer to go 16 if your going to the airport area or north side of town, but we're talking maybe a 15-20 minute difference though, so no big deal. The drive down the coast is a heck of a lot more scenic than the drive across north Florida though.

Driving up from Tampa on game day. If weather is clear, staying at the Hampton Inn on St. Augustine Beach. 217/night + tax.

One good thing if you are traveling with kids is the free petting zoo on 1-16 EXIT 98. It's a Chevron Station with a free petting zoo beside it. We stop on the way back from Savannah a lot to break up the trip and gives the kids a break. It sounds corny but one of my favorite part of the trip. Some very cool animals there.
