Just Because Alabama Housed Mizzou

It definitely could end up being a “slip-up” game if we’re not close to our best. But I’m certain Pruitt will have the troops ready.
Feels like a dangerous game. If we want to continue to be seen as a building team going in the right direction, we need to get the W. Important game. Kinda like the MST game last year

If we tighten up some stuff on D, we don't turn the ball over, and JG corrects his airmails (maybe easier said than done), we should get the W.
JG has been airmailing receivers for his whole tenure in Knoxville. This isn’t a problem that’ll heal anytime soon. He also likes to throw behind receivers. Again, not new and not anything I expect to be rectified before the end of the year.

Tenn is clearly more talented at most spot's and now well coached. We need Turnovers and a busted play or two to win. And of course we got to play a clean game.

I don't care about the line. I don't care about south carolina. I just want the players to respect their opponent and show up expecting to give their ALL for Tennessee. Missouri is going to show up ready to play and wanting to win. They have given us trouble almost every year since they entered the League
(emphasis mine)
I agree with this. Missouri is looking at Tennessee as being "their Vandy". Coming off the Bama game they just had, I suspect they are looking at Tennessee as a soft spot in their schedule. I believe they see the Tennessee game as one they HAVE to win just to keep from being embarrassed. Our Vol's need to go out on the field..AT HOME...and correct that kind of thinking. GBO.

Can't see Missouri being too emotionally invested. A couple early scores and they'll pack it in. I see Tennessee looking like a much better team after that first game is now under their collective belts. Two score win. And absolutely not because Alabama beat Missouri. But because Tennessee is a program that's better than theirs and I think we show it on the field Saturday.

We could not run on them last yr, JG just had his career best passing game. Stayed in the groove all night. Don't think we will have a lot success running on them this yr either. Front 7 is good. We will go as JG goes passing unfortunately. Maybe he will be 'on' again.

If you have 400+ yards, you should probably have more than 2 TDs. JG has never had more than 3 TDs in a game except for UTC. He was terrible in the red zone last year.

A lot of this game is mental. Mizzou knew they didn't stand a chance against bama. However, they have kicked our buts more times than not. They think they should beat us for the same reason we expect to always beat vandy. They are going to come out inspired and play us hard. The only question is, "are we going to show up flat and dysfunctional?"

As long as JG is in the game to hold us back on offense, anyone is capable of beating us. With that said, we have talent all over the field. It will be a shame to waste bc we cant find a competent passer. I thought he did look good running the ball Saturday. Maybe running more will help with his rhythm.

some of the worst UT teams I have seen in my lifetime and I’ve been watching them a long time
I couldn't agree more, we had a few good athletes sprinkled here and there but we did not have a coach who knew how to build a solid team most of those years, mostly Lyle but Dooley didn't do is many favors either

Great teams house crappy teams. We're not a great team. We're a middling team who's been on a streak of good luck lately. We remind me of that Mark Richt Miami team from a few years ago who went on that win streak but didn't look particularly great in any of those wins. We've benefitted from playing several average teams in a row. Reality will set back in soon enough in about a week. (Just being honest) .

This thread is very reminiscent of the one about WKU a few years ago. We should put this game away early but probably won't. That being said I still think we win handily

If JG isn't incredibly mediocre per his normal self, we win easily.... but I'm guessing another completely avoidable blood bath battle for the win.

Doesn't mean we're about to.

The 10-point line is meaningless.

On paper, we're better than Mizzou, but not nearly at Alabama's level (yet).

Gotta treat this game like a 2nd bite at Ga. State.

I’ll strongly agree that the 2020 UT Volunteers are not a heavyweight. Maybe they’ll become that next year, or 2 years if the progression continues to move forward and the UT Volunteers get a great QB in the league of Hurts, Tebow, Newton, also other great talented players so they are a complete great team.

I expect the Missouri Tigers to rebound by using enough effective effort to keep the game watchable and close.
They are not the 2019 awful Arkansas Razorbacks, and most likely that gets shown because they win above 4 games, and keep most games they lose competitive and close.

Even if the Volunteers demolish the not great Missouri Tigers that I expect happens late 3rd meaning anything that happens with 4 minutes or any time below 4 minutes.

I’ll agree, and I’ll be most happy if they avoid 4th quarter drama by winning handily so that they can avoid becoming unranked.

If the Vols don’t turn the ball over they should win by 2 scores, but it’s SEC football and chitt happens
Go Vols beat Mizzou

Listened to a couple podcasts talking about this game. They all expect the vols to win but possibly a 1 score game similar to our previous game.

I would recommend listening to some of these podcasts as they have great insight: The Cover 3 Podcast, That SEC Podcast, College Football Bros

We have three games that are probable losses and the other seven are all toss ups. Our QB situation makes this the reality for us unless someone steps up and replaces him and looks great doing it.

I don't think Tn is overlooking anybody, to play in the SEC all players have to be talented.
