Just an observation tonight...

Too many people with unrealistic expectations. Too many people with unrealistic hopes. A lot of people are used to TN being a 10 win team and are lashing out at the expectations of a 4-5 win season. A lot of people are used to TN being a 10 win team and can't comprehend the notion of low expectations for the Vols. And of course it's human nature for both sides to be ignorantly blinded by their opinion and thinking it's the only one that matters. So the negatives bash the positives and positives deride the negatives. Not enough people can say "it is what it is", deal with it and move on.

Whoa there buddy - the program is as bad now as it has been in 60 years? Hardly. If you can't find reasons to be positive about the upcoming season you're not looking very hard.

When Majors took over, it was worse, yes. And I didn't say there were ZERO positives, but there aren't very many at the moment. That may change after the Oregon game, we'll see.

Getting frustrated with the state of the program is ok.

Tempering expectations during the offseason is ok.

Once training camp opens, guess what, I am a vol and believe we have a shot at each and every game.

Sure, I would love to be better or have 85 scholorships, but I will support my team and my players and bleed orange till I can bleed no more.

Its football time now, so enough of the critisism and questioning of the administration.

Now I focus on letting my fandom take over and supporting my team.

+1

It isn't the people who lament the possibility of a bad season... It is the ones who seem to relish in it and condemn anyone who tries to be hopeful as well as the players and coaches who are trying to make it better..

Some posters just seem to enjoy being negative too much.

I blame the Muslims and the fact they are allowed to exercise First Amendment rights.

Yeah, the Muslims behind the Cordoba Center seems soo sincere in their hopes to unite us all. I'm just suprised you didn't blame George Bush for this also..
Oh yeah, the name Cordoba is reference to Cordoba Spain were the Muslims defeated the Spainards in battle. Hmmmm.....wonder what the intentions of naming that is?

Why is it that I keep noticing people who claim to be fans of the University of Tennessee Football team, constantly talking down our team, coach, and other fans?? Now, I know that we have been down, and I know that we haven't had much to celebrate, but it's almost football season and I feel like there is a much bigger majority that is going to be taking a normal prescription of Xanax this season. It doesn't bother me, but honestly, we need a lot of help this year and next, and just trying to keep a somewhat positive vibe around the football program is going to be big on helping keep these coaches and players fixed on the goal of doing well on the field. If they feel like we have given up on them, what's to stop them from giving up themselves?? I remember when Tennessee Football used to be the talk of the town, and people just got goosebumps thinking about football season. I still do myself, but nowadays, I feel like people have other agendas. Maybe it's just here on the messages boards, maybe not, but I would tend to think our team would love to know that we actually supported them and their coaches.

It's football time in Tennessee now people, get with it.

Give it a rest with the rah rah stuff Eric. It's been done to death. The damn season is in a couple of weeks and we can all see what our team looks like then and either jump for joy or increase the beeatching to an eardrum busting crescendo.

If you can't see that in the posts of several people here then I can't help you... and I have no interest in calling those people out turning this into a 1000 page argument.

They're capitalizing on the hype Spain got for winning the World Cup. It's smart branding. I would have preferred Inquisition Inn, but that's just me.

Personally, I love everything Tennessee. What some people consider "negativity, talking down our team, and coaches" leads to constructive and healthy debates. I see what your saying but that would be another website altogether "Positive Tennessee Fans Only". Aside from idiotic posts, most considered negative can also be constructive. If it were politics would you only want a biased source for your information and questions asked from said source to our leaders?

Exactly. It's comical to see how many people ignore the state of the program. It's bad. My grandfather (Vol since the 50's) told me it's about as bad it has ever gone through. There's not a lot to be positive about right now. Hell, we just hired a guy who won 4 games in the WAC after multiple, multiple coaches turned us down.

We could win the NC and you would still be complaining. No disrespect to your grandpa, but how the hell can he say that when we haven't even played a game yet.

Life is too short to be a "negavol", i dont give a damn how down we are, I will continue driving 800 miles 2 or 3 times a season to cheer for the big orange, nothing compares.

Nice comparison there. You just had to go back app. 600 years to reference such violence and express your irrelevant viewpoint. I do realize, however, the battle for Cordoba was also some time ago but my example just seems a little more fresh for this discussion in light of more recent events, attacks, attempted bombings,etc.... Don't you think?

You know maybe "The Inquisition Inn" would have been a better play come to think of it. They could have just laid low and secretly followed through with the plan of building the Mosque unbeknownst to the evil, racist, vile, intolerant Christian and Zionist Americans and then, once completed, announce their intentions to the world because you know what they say.
"Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!"

I love this football team to death..that, however, does not stop me from being a realist. I learned a long time ago that going in to a season thinking you're going to win everything is only a set up to be let down. This team isn't that good, or at least, hasn't appeared to be. Do I hope and pray they go out there and win every single game? Obviously. However, I'm not gonna sit here and try to pretend we're the best team in the nation when we're not. #1 in my heart, but no where near #1 in the polls. That's the way I look at it.

For those of you who think I am delusional enough to think we are going to win 10 games or every game this year, please check yourselves.

All I am saying, is that enough is enough, and it's that time of year to come and support our team 110% everyday. These guys are going to go through a rough time this year, and they need all the support they can get.

That's all I meant by my post, and make sure you refer yourself to my season prediction before trying to draw a conclusion that I smashed by predicting 7-6 for this year, and it could be just as bad next year.

I was with you all the way until you got to the 110%. Like all humans I only go to 100%.

(that's all there is...) :clapping:
