I read a few really harsh posts from a few people on here in response to Uga's death. I just think that is really wrong. Uga is just like Smokey...or the eagle at Auburn...or the houndstooth hats in Tuscaloosa. It's the tradition from 100 years past that makes the SEC what it is. It's what makes us the greatest football conference in America. I hate Georgia just like everyone else...but to make cruel or insensitive comments over Uga dying is not what we as UT fans should be all about. We have to respect tradition and recognize what it means....and we must hold ourselves to a higher standard.

Good post Doc, plus as a guy who owns 3 orphan dogs, anyone who celebrates the death of a dog is scum.

Yes...but if it wasn't for Uga, Smokey, running through the T, and all of the other traditions of the South....we, the SEC, would not be what we are. Uga's death should not have been ridiculed....just my thoughts. Imagine how we would feel if Smokey died and Georgia's fans were making cruel comments. Just not right........

I'm a dog lover as much as anybody, and anyone celebrating the death of a dog is scum in my book. However, UGA fans calling in sick to work because of the death of a mascot is just beyond my comprehension.

I can understand your point...no doubt. I noticed during the game tonight that Georgia had his doghouse on the sidelines with a wreath on it. I thought that was really classy and sad at the same time.

I've agreed with it since the beginning

sad point is, whether you liked the dog or not, someone lost their puppy

I believe in tradition....and Saturday afternoons in the South make college football the great sport it is. As we all know the mascots of the SEC teams make up a large part of that tradition. For that, Uga deserves our respect.

As an old man once told me.."It's just a dog....It's just a dog." He said this with tears going down his face.

Is there anything that can be done to help give bulldogs more room for their vital organs inside the ribcage? an operation of some kind?

This thread seemed much more promising when I thought the title referred to the death of their football team as a decent team.
