As I am sure some of you know I have been here a while and do not flame.

I have a question. I have said since this whole thing went down the best hire is from within this own conference. The guy I will name, I hate. He is a cocky A hole. BUT..........he wins. And he more than likely would not leave UT. Being a UK fan I have hated this guy with a passion for a long, long time. But, If I was MH, I would have already called him. His name is Bobby Petrino.

Now I know it would stir up more drama. But, as you all now know, this is a business. If you get a great hire, who cares. All will be forgotten in time anyway. Bobby Petrino would be a home run hire for UT, IMO. You would be competing for championships in a few years, He knows how to build, and build quickly. Not to mention he would leave Ark in a second because, like I said, he is an A hole and would not care. All he would see it SEC power house > Ark. It's the way he is.

That's my 2 cents anyway. If I were the AD at UT, he would have already been hired. I am a bears fan also and I can tell you you DO NOT want Lovie Smith. The guy might sound appealing right now, but trust me. You don't want him. Atleast the cut knows the program and has some huge superstar alumn backing him. That helps.

If you next coach is the cut then I think he can stabilize, and get UT on solid ground. The only reason I see UT hiring him is for that very reason. Then, a few years down the road, he can retire and there will be more quality coaches out there.

Just wanted to add that at UK, you cannot coach here without understanding our fans and our tradition. It is THE key when picking coaches here. I know some of you don't like Cal, but he has come in and embraced the fans, and tradition. We really needed that. Billy G did not embrace anything UK. And it didn't last long. I say this so people understand that the cut would not be the worst hire. Like UK last year, right now what UT needs more than anything is someone thsat "gets it" and can repair the damage.

Good luck guys.

BTW, did I invent the phrase, "The Cut"? ;)

Petrino would have to be signed into an ironclad contract with heavy penalties to keep him in place. He has no loyalty's excpet to the dollar and fame. We just went through the worst gunslinger of our history. I don't think he is what the program needs for stability. Good coach but not a stability assuring kind of guy.

I get that, and I agree to an extent. But, Petrino came into the SEC for a reason. I highly doubt he ever tries another NFL job. And if he did, it would Probably be a long, long time. I don't see another program he would want totake if he changed to UT. He has been going everywhere. I think he would stay. Like I said, It's just my opinion and my take. If I were AD, He would have already been hired. Maybe I am wrong. Prolly why I am not an AD

You didn't pay much attention to the wake he left behind in The River City.

He would win at UT. You cannot be scared to hire coaches based on where they might go one day.

It isn't where they go....it is what they do while they're here. Petrino left a huge mess for Jurich to clean up in Louisville.

When you are winning like Petrino was in Louisville, and a complete "culture change" is required on your departure it is not a good sign.

That also had a lot to do with Krags. He was a terrible, TERRIBLE hire. I stand by what I said, Petrino would win and possibly win big at UT. You make some valid points though.

Dude, Petrino is more of the same that they had with Kiffin: A coaching whore who will work for anybody, anytime. Loyalty is no stumbling block, just feed his ego.

I could hire Petrino today with ABSOLUTELY ZERO confidence that he'd still be there when the sun came up tomorrow. Even before he left Louisville for the Falcons, he was looking at every single job that came up. I think he even applied for the manager's position at Stuckey's off of I-40.

looking at it purely by x's and o's, yeah, Petrino would be a slam dunk hire imo...but, too many ifs in the other areas to be trusted.

Petrino would not leave in all likely hood. Where is he going to go? It would be a slam dunk hire.

I see what you are saying and agree to a point. Bobby, like you said will leave in a heartbeat for more money just like Nick Saban. We could not afford to lure Saban because of the amount of money that being said Saban likes to rebuild and this is forte while getting BIG bucks to do it, he will eventually leave Alabama.

Back to the subject of Petrino, I am just afraid if you signed him to an iron clad contract if he wanted to go he could certainly cause a ruckus that UT doesn't want right now.

Just an FYI for the Kentucky fan. Because Petrino was aware that everybody thought he would jump ship he actually signed his contract at Arkansas with a HUGE buyout. It was originally something like a 9 million dollar buyout. I think it was decreased now down to something like $6.75 million, might have dropped a little more after the new year. I don't see any university paying that much money for a buyout when they think the coach is a flight risk. You will more than likely see Petrino at Arkansas for awhile.

Just browsing guys, good luck finding a coach.

We don't need another self-serving weasel handling the sacred trust of Tennessee football. That mistake has to be nipped at the bud.

Dude I'm moving back to Brentwood TN in June after being stuck in Ohio for over a decade. There's still a Stuckey's on I-40? Where? I gotta get me some Pecan Log. MMM MMM Good.

I like the UK fan coming here acting like he understands. What he doesn't understand is that UK was USC in this whole mess less than a year ago when they took our coach (which we don't miss) and then stole our recruits (which we do miss). Kiffin is gone to USC and Vols fans don't care, but they do care about the situation he left. He doesn't understand that Cal=Kiffin and Kiffin=Cal.

UT fans hang in there, you will get a good coach because it is a good job. Memphis fans dislike you, but absolutely feel your pain on this situation. Even on Memphis radio we admit that UT is a top 15 job in the country.
