Heard on a local radio show in North Mississippi this morning that Cam Newton's father mentioned that UT was the first to offer "pay for play". This was the first time I heard and have not been able to find any info about it. Anyone else heard this?

This would make no sense. Why would we offer someone money who we didn't even offer a scholarship to? At this point Cecil Newton will try and bring down anyone he can with him to save himself, and his son. What a nice man of the cloth. Stay classy, Cecil.

I don't believe it yet. The only thing that worries me, is that it could've been a factor in the staff bolting. Not that they were short on reasons, jus sayin.

Exactly. Silly rumor. Let's squash this one quickly. We don't need any help getting a bad name with the NCAA. We've done enough of that to ourselves.

Did not happen. Yeah Lane and O were scummy enough to do something like this but they never extended the kid a scholarship. I'm wondering what exactly these idiots think we payed him for.

I don't believe it to be true, but if I were going to discuss "illegal" payments with someone, it would make sense to keep that person off the "official prospects" list. Jus sayin, its called covering your arse. Again, I don't believe it, but it wouldn't surprise me @ this point, knowing LK + Co.

First Call with Matt Wyatt. It was a guest host on this morning and the time was around 7:30 cst. I clearly stated this was a rumor. This is not an attempt to troll. I was only asking if anyone else had heard this. Now pull your panties out of your arse and chill out.

The two host are pretty heavy MSU homers, so I dont think that would be the reason. However, most Ole Miss fans are blaming the loss on youth. And I quote" we have 12 fresh. and soph. on our two deep." I thought that was funny.

What difference does it really make? Even if we were initially in on the bidding for Newton, we didn't even offer him a scholarship, much less actually pay him anything. It will never come to anything more than rumors because as long as no money changed hands, no concrete proof of wrongdoing will ever exist.
