Lindsey gets a retaining bonus if he is still employed by AU after tomorrow. I could see an announcement on Sunday/Monday but don’t think Lindsey will want to give that bonus away just to save a day or two. If no announcement by tomorrow, good bet it’s Lindsey.

I wouldn't be surprised if that bonus was forfeit if he left, or he had to negotiate it away to get out of his contract. Need a lot more info on his contract provisions to know if that bonus affects the timing of his departure, if he goes.

Good logic, but to add to that Freeze has his show cause expire today as well and can't be employed until tomorrow. I'm not lobbying for Freeze but just putting it out there. I personally think it would be great to name our OC tomorrow afternoon just before the game. That way it can still be talked about on pregame show for everyone tunning in to see.......recruits n parents.......free Tennessee publicity on championship Saturday.

That didn't apply to coordinator jobs. He faced a 2 game suspension if hired as a head coach.

This is the same pattern that happened last year with Mullen. We had discussions with him and he (Jimmy Sexton) floated out information that he was interested. Mullen then dragged his feet for 24-36 hours. It was to get UF to move quickly if they missed out on Chip Kelly....

Why do we want everyone seeing the media bash us?

Was going to say the same. It might be a good idea to release that information right after the SECCG where not much is said on it. If Freeze, you don’t want the publicity to come with it, low key hire would be ideal otherwise fair or not, they will lump Tn fans into being hypocrites. I think it’s apples to oranges but better believe Schiano will come up and I think most TN fans want that memory just to go away.

Do you see Freeze? Possible but hard to look past his friendship with Lindsey. Coaches normally go with familiarity and guys they know or comfortable with if all things are equal.

I will say for Lindsey, he’s not getting a fair shake at AU. It’s hard to do your job if you are handcuffed. Everyone knows who calls the plays at AU and whose offense that is, it’s why Gus might be fired, micromanager.
