Junior Finished?

i think this sums it up...

I know Jr. isn't the best driver out there he never was and never will be but he is better than what he has been showing....I think he needs to man up and get rid of Tony Jr. and put Tony Sr. on the pit box, he at least won a few races with him calling the shots

You know what Bill Parcells said..."You are what your record says you are."

i am a jr. fan (although i am not sure for how much longer) and it pains me to say this, but....

dale jr. = kyle petty

I have seen several shows where they read emails from fans of Jr. Alot of them keep suggesting a crew chief swap with either the 5 or the 48. Why take away from the other 3 teams that are contending for wins every week just to try and help out the 88. It blows my mind how so many Jr fans (not all) think none of this has to do with the driver. I myself think that Jr and Eury Jr should split, but it's not all Eury's fault. He's not the cause of at least 11 pit road misshaps by Jr. This is only going to get bigger and bigger if they can't turn it around. It has to be a distraction for the 88 team.

i say bring back Tony Eury Sr.. let him sit on the box with Eury Jr. This way, no other teams get screwed into helping the 88 (or by having Eury Jr as their crew chief), Tony Eury Jr can keep his job, and no feelings are hurt. Leave Tony Jr on the radio, just let Tony Sr make all the calls.. why not?

Im a devout Jr fan, while i think some of the blame is to be laid on Eury its certainly not all. He did not drive like this when daddy was still around cause Sr. would of either put his foot in his ass or booted him out of the car. He has nothing to drive for and nobody to motivate him. All he does is get mobbed by fans telling him how awesome he is then hops his jet and heads for the ranch where 10-15 ladies are waiting for him. He left the Atlanta race saturday night and flew back in sunday morning, im not sure how one can prepare for a race while your on a plane. He is going to have to focus or he will indeed start losing fans by the masses.

i agree with you, but its hard to argue.. he can A.) put minimal effort into racing, be the most popular driver, be the 2nd highest paid driver, party like a rockstar, have any girl he wants, travel around the world, etc........ or B.) put everything into racing, still be the most popular driver, still probably be the 2nd highest paid driver, not go out, not party, and probably still not win a championship.. put yourself in his shoes

he might lose some fans, but it wont be by the masses.. theres not another bandwagon for them to jump on yet

The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare..... He's too busy being a rock star as d4ster3 put it. He might get upset during/after races when things go wrong but he's not doing anything diffrent to try and change it. How many times has he made pit road mistakes himself this year? Hendrick needs to get rid of Eury Jr and get a veteran crew chief in there that will put his foot up Jr's a$$ and get the ship in line with the other 3 cars. He's even getting out-performed by the other 2 Hendrick cars(Tony and Ryan) on a week to wek basis.

im beginning to believe all the ppl who say Jr cant win a championship.. that being said, i dont think he will ever focus entirely on racing.. even if Hendrick dropped him, he wouldnt have any problem finding another ride bc of his marketability.. he may lose some fans but he could lose half his fan base and still be the most popular driver

Depends on who that half changes to. If most of half his fans went to Tony Stewart, that would probably put Smoke ahead of him.

Hendrick traded the driver who wins.....Busch, for $$$$$$ with Jr. Like Kyle Petty,he's not the racer his daddy was.

it wasn't a bad trade at the time, it's not like Kyle was winning that much at Hendricks.

Makes you wonder about the so called "equal" cars at Hendrick Racing. Until just this year has the 5 car been consistently competitive, since the first few years Hendrick raced.

from Jayski:

# More rumors on #88 crew chief change UPDATE: a reliable source tells me [Sports Illustrated] that Tony Eury Jr. won't be the crew chief of the #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr. as of Dover this weekend. Whether that actually happens or not remains to be seen, but the two weeks in Charlotte made it obvious both driver and team need a change.(Sports Illustrated)(5-26-2009)
UPDATE: Team owner Rick Hendrick, who has previously said he doesn't plan to make changes to Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s #88 team, wasn't as definitive on Tuesday. "Could it change?" Hendrick said Tuesday following a meeting with NASCAR officials at the Research and Development Center. "We're talking about things. We're going to make decisions as the days go by, but we haven't made any decisions as it stands now." Earnhardt Jr. finished 40th in Monday's rain-delayed Coca-Cola 600. Hendrick did not specifically address breaking up Earnhardt and crew chief Tony Eury Jr. But in the past when discussing changes he made it clear that wasn't a consideration. He wasn't so clear on Tuesday with Earnhardt 19th in points, 203 behind Mark Martin for the 12th and final Chase spot. "We're always concerned when we have a car not run well," Hendrick said. "We're always meeting and trying to figure out how to make it better. We've got to come up with a plan and we've got to work toward that. We thought we had a pretty good plan coming to Charlotte. I was fairly pleased with the All-Star race and thought we would do better Sunday. We weren't."(ESPN)(5-26-2009) Comment here
