Jumper's PFF rating

You do know he had 7 tackles against OHIO and a TFL

They ran 76 plays. I imagine several were towards his general area.

He or the corner one are responsible for the blown coverage giving Ohio their 3rd Q TD. One of them wasn't supposed to be in run support.

He's not the abject failure of a LB he was last year. I'm just saying I hope UF wasn't a fluke.

His VT participation was giving up 30 yards on a pass, 7 run, 3 run.

I hope he continues to do well, I'm just not on the Colton Jumper train quite yet. We need JRM and DKjr back.

How about just trying to be happy for him for a week?

If he plays next week and has a bad game then VN can easily transition back into bashing him. I would imagine everyone keeps their pitchforks within arms reach around here.

Not to be too negative, but I wonder what Justin Martin's rating was. He's got NFL measurables but he's struggled mightily so far

I was critical of his play when he had the td scored on him but by god he turned on the heat after that. In the second half he was making plays and playing angry and fast. It was great to see

Until this game, he was simply a liability. His play last year resulted in yardage and points that may well have turned W to L.

His play this year up to this point was uninspired. His feet looked stuck in mud and his reaction to the play late.

He played well Saturday, but he is no DKjr or JRM. At this point, his good play is an outlier. I'll be happy if he can continue good football, but we'll see.

He graded better than TKjr Saturday so he may actually be better.

Colton Jumper earned every bit of the criticism he got here on VN for his lackluster play in previous efforts. Saturday in the swamp does not erase that.

But his effort in the swamp deserves plaudits and praise from all Vol Fans in equal measure to his previous revilement. He has finally earned that respect due to his exemplary play - at least in that one game (and it was a helluva good time to pick to be great).

Perhaps equally important, is that his Saturday numbers against the Gators does show what he is capable of when it clicks for him - an upside potential the coaches saw when many (lets face it, pretty much ALL) of us did not. Lets give our coaches a few points as well for his improvement over time. :clapping:

Great to see marginal players like Jumper and Mosley step it up against a big time opponent with Cam and JRM and Kirkland out.

Mosley marginal? He is better than Martin coming and going. Just because the guy is super athletic does not make him a good football player. Mosley has been better all year
