We are definitely getting passed by in the jumbotron dept.

Arkansas's was the most impressive that I have seen personally. Auburn's was pretty good too, but their audio system was horrid.

Compared to some of the others in the conference, the term "jumbotron" isn't adequate.
We're scheduled for a new, larger panel at some point in the Neyland update process. Our current screen, once the envy of every other SEC program, should probably be considered in the range of the "IPOD" of football stadium displays right now.

2. Nebraska 118 x 34 4,012

3. Texas A&M 73 x 53 3,869

4. Arkansas 107 x 30 3,210

5. Ohio State 90 x 30 2,700

BTW the Texas scoreboard "Godzillatron" ran a cost of 8 mil

You what they say about a guy with a big TV -- he is covering for short comings in other places.

This is true, go to UTsports and read the about the Neylands future upgrades. It states our Screen is the last of its kind and UT went out and bought up all the parts they could find from old x-NFL jumbotrons that were being replaced.

You have a link to the future upgrades site....I've looked and can't find it.

We already put a new one in in either 2001-2002. Ours is actually fairly new, and there would be no need to put a new one it.
Actually I read that the one we have is outdated and no longer made so they can't find parts for it and they didn't even know if it would last the season last year. This is per Hubbs

The screens at neyland are way too small and not very bright. They need to replace them with the latest and biggest high tech video boards. Hopefully, they are the biggest in the conference.

Link please. I have looked in the past and never found anywhere that spoke of a new jumbotron.

I am not sure if that is structurally feasible. I am no architect but I can't imagine Arkansas's setup sitting on top of the stadium. I am curious as to what The Swamp's will look like.

We should have one bigger than texas's in each end zone. Thats how the vols should roll. The one we have now is garbo.

I think that's pretty much the answer to everything as it pertains to larger Jumbotrons. You just can't put one of those monster screens up anywhere; especially on a structure that is 80 years old.

i heard an interview with Mike Hamilton on 99.1 about a month ago regarding this.

If it has already been mentioned, I apologize for the redundancy.

Basically, parts aren't being made for our "ancient" jumbotron anymore. Therefore, we're buying a new one that's more up to date.

It should be installed before next football season.

If we do put a new one in it needs to be like the one at Auburn...

IMG_5528.JPG

The cool part was when it showed the replays after the play, all the "stuff" and ads on the sides, (scores, stats, etc.) disappeared and the replay was on the entire screen, which made it bigger and easier to see...
How in the hell was Auburn leading that game 10-3?

In the same interview with Hamilton from 99.1, he indicated that adding a 2nd JUMBOTRON to the north endzone wasn't out of the question.

He said that it would not be this season, but he thinks that it might be a reality at some point to have JUMBOTRONS at both ends.

Here's a picture of what is considered to be one of the best.

It's the "Godzillatron" at Univ. of Texas

I like Arkansas big Sony jumbotron...I think its the biggest or was...The picture was unbelievable

The Braves just got a huge screen a little while ago, we should get one like that. If you haven't seen it, look it up on google. It's even bigger in person. WOW.

Nice pics. But even they don't even come close to doing it justice. That thing is massive in person. And has exceptionally clear picture for as large as it is.
