Isn't Bama getting like 3-4 total with their new additions? But on your topic - I don't know.

We already put a new one in in either 2001-2002. Ours is actually fairly new, and there would be no need to put a new one it.

I think he meant in the other end zone - not replacing the current one.

Bama will probably have one in every corner - gotta be a buttload of cash plus expanding to 101,000.

Compared to some of the others in the conference, the term "jumbotron" isn't adequate.

It would really bother me if Bama expanded to be larger than Neyland. Just another attempt to one up us.

Actually I remember hearing somewhere that it is outdated, and there were fears last year it could go out at any moment...

If we do put a new one in it needs to be like the one at Auburn...

The cool part was when it showed the replays after the play, all the "stuff" and ads on the sides, (scores, stats, etc.) disappeared and the replay was on the entire screen, which made it bigger and easier to see...

You know we can't have the ads disappearing in Neyland. The Auburn one looks sweet. The one in Gainesville is pretty nice as well.

What would we do without the 1st Tennessee first down.

or

Orange is Bi-Lo :)...I know they do that one anymore

or

Verizon Wireless stats for the first half

the one at texas is very similar to that of Auburn's (went to the a&m game this yr). Its huge and still has ads all the way around it, they just take them off for pre game, half time, big replays, that sort of deal. we could use our existing 'frame', take all the plastics off around it, and get a much larger picture. this isn't the first time i've heard (thereal)UT may be doing something to the jumbo tron....
*sorry king, didn't mean to reiterate yp, read thru it fast..

Florida's putting in 2 new huge LCD screens in each endzone. UT needs to do the same thing for the fans.

ours isnt all that bad considering how high up it is and i used to live in knoxville place on the 12th floor on the side towards the stadium and when theyd have it up and running the night before a game it would still lit up my bedroom even with the blinds closed and i could sit and watch it from my apt like i was watching the tv in my living room, so i cant say too much about thinking its too small

For some reason I dont think they were worried about it 'going out' at any minute. I lived in Neyland Hills APTs last year (I could see the stadium from my APT) and they would run the jumbotron all the time. It was funny because they would play the ESPN televised game of us losing at Cal over and over again. It would stay on all night sometimes. No joke, I would wake up the next day and it would still be on. Doesnt seem like they would do something like that if they were worried that it might stop working. Dont you think?

our jumbotron is one of the last of its model. Parts are extremely hard to find for it, and if it goes out we are screwed.

Brent Hubbs mentioned something about them replacing the jumbo tron on Sunday Sports Extra a couple of weeks ago. It's not that appealing and the score is difficult to read on a sunny day.

I do know it's supposedly the last working model of its type in existence...

This is true, go to UTsports and read the about the Neylands future upgrades. It states our Screen is the last of its kind and UT went out and bought up all the parts they could find from old x-NFL jumbotrons that were being replaced.

Anyone have any idea what a board like Auburn's costs? I remember hearing somewhere (maybe College Gameday) that Texas has the biggest one in the country.

I swear to God Miss. State had the smallest "jumbo tron" I've ever seen. It looked like a 20 inch TV on sale at WalMart
