judging by the empty seats...

Having sat in the student section during a couple of the post-NC years, I understand the draw of a good game/season in getting people out. This year's poor season makes it far easier to say "Hey, I'm not going to drive X hours back to campus for a poor game in bad weather." A great season and better weather make it easier. I've been there. Granted, my annoying family helped in the decision.

Wherever you're watching from, be safe in this crappy weather.

disdain for our student section, as a whole, goes way deeper than a game on thanksgiving weekend. this was just the final exam of my 6 years in knoxville.

I live 6 hours away and we do not get Wednesday off of school. If I were to go back I would have gotten to spend time with my family for 2 days. I actually told my parents I would like to go back and go to the game and they told me I needed to stay home. If the university gave me Wednesday (or the whole week like Vanderbilt and Ole Miss) off I would probably have gone to the game. But, as it stands it was illogical. Don't tell the students they are not true fans because some of us wanted to spend time with our families during Thanksgiving. I love UT football as much as or more than the next person but sometimes you just can't go to games.

Oh and did you seriously compare Widespread Panic to spending time with family??? You're nuts. Widespread is obviously not as important to you as UT football, so you chose UT football. Well guess what, UT football is not as important to me as family I see ONE time a year, yes ONE time, so I chose family. Back off.

Man dont blame the students for not going to the game, I am a college student(at UTM) and its tough right now, finals, projects, papers, it seems like everything comes down to two weeks and on top of that family. Although TN football is high on my list there are a few things that come above that. Dont blame the students.

It is sad when students do not want to pony up $90 for season tickets. Give me a break!
The students should not only pony up money for rising tuition, but also battle the elements to watch a boring, atrociously awful 5-7 team battle Kentucky and should spend a weekend's beer money for the privilege to purchase the tickets...

Sorry my grandfather is about to die and I'm trying to spend as much time with him before it happens. My family means more to me than a football game. I think that goes for a majority of the students not there. By the way I ponied up $90 so no I'm not a fair-weathered fan.

Don't blame students, there are plenty of people in town for Thanksgiving that are at the malls right now.

First, students tickets should be free.

Second, the Vols stink this year--the offense is pathetic. You want students to cut short their Thanksgiving break to see this team play kentucky?

6 years? I hope you're not a student or at the very least are a doctoral candidate...otherwise my diploma just lost alot of value....

Get some perspective. When I was at UT, I never made it to the Kentucky game, as I was in Georgia for Thanksgiving. Adding to it that tickets aren't free and we BLOW...no wonder nobody is there.

. . . and the weather sucked. I don't get why anybody is making a big deal out of this.

Hey it could be worse. My dumbass buddy left his family Thanksgiving dinner early yesterday because..."I got tickets to the UT-UK game. They are going to break the streak this year!"

FAIL

This has been going on all year though. its really sad that students cant pay 15 dollars a game compared to the hundreds of dollars donors pay. Its not like UT is the only school that charges their students. youll get the picture when Mikey docks half of the seats in the student section and gives them to people that will pay much more.
