Jimmy Hyams just got personally attacked and told that he is still mad about being scooped on the black jerseys. Granted, it was an unfair attack because it was surrounding his reporting of Janzen Jackson's suspension, but man, I've never heard him taking it like this.

Hyams is still pissed we got rid of Fulmer. He was always defending him no matter what he did and does not like change. Plus, I think him and some other good ole boy TN area media is pissed that Kiffin kept the black jerseys a secret from them. If he can make negative comments towards Kiffin and company, then he should be able to accept the criticism himself.

You mean to tell me that Hyams - who lives to judge, critique, criticize, belittle, make fun of anything that has to do with the UT football team, it's coaches, it's athletes and sports in general was himself judged and criticized???

How is this even possible? Should we call commish Slive on Jimmy's behalf?

I for one am terribly offended ---not.

Like my grandma used to say "What's good for the goose"

Sorry, can't dig up any empathy for Jimmy. He cried about the Black Jersey Scoop and journalistically he did a terrible job of sourcing out the story outside of Official Channels and then complained about it for a week. Verrrrrrrry Weak Journalism if you can even call it that.

Just my opinion.

i thought the caller was out of line. the caller suggesting that hyams was trying to get back at the ut staff for not giving him the scoop on the black unis by breaking the story on janzen jackson's suspension IMO is ludicrous. with that being said, hyams better be right about his reporting on jackson's suspension or he will receive backlash from volnation the likes he probably has never seen/heard. i like listening to hyams and respect him, but would join the hyams bashing crowd on this issue if he is wrong. the caller made one good point though , this will hurt jackson. whether the story is true or not , there will be a perception of jackson that he willl have to work hard and stay out of trouble to remedy.

Jimmy Hyams deserves to be called out for his yellow form of "journalism."

He, along with the Mike Griffith's of the world, needs to realize it is not all about them and their agendas.

They also need to realize this town will be a much better place when hackjobs of "journalists" like themselves are ran out on the next Greyhound out of Magnolia.

Hyams has been saying that JJ failed a drug test. totally wrong and irresponsible on his part.

If he is wrong about the failed drug test, Jimmy is going to get hammered and Kiffin will really blackball him at the press conferences.

Hyams: I do not think they (the Vol coaching staff) will offer Cam Newton.

I thought Newton already committed to Miss. St?

Other than making one call to Mike Hamilton, Hyams did nothing to find out about the black jerseys. Every coach, every player, every manager, every trainer, every girl friend, most of the parents, most of the students, probably a fourth of the fan base knew we were wearing black jerseys and Jimmy was still reporting absolutely no chance we wear black jerseys. " Does Jimmy know any coaches, any players, managers - heck does he even know anybody in Knoxville who would talk to him and give him a scoop the next time something happens at UT.

I know technically it is his job - but apparently he is out of the loop somewhat now that Phil is gone so he gets mad and pouts a lot if he doesn't get the scoop. We all know that he's not going to work and investigate to get a story. He made his one call to an official source and that was good enough for Jimmy and it should be good enough for us as well.

Does he even live in Tennessee or is he still living and reporting from La. and occasionally making a call to an Official source in Tn?

Hyams doesn't follow recruiting very well. People that ask him about recruiting don't have Internet and get their news from News & Notes.

This is what kind of got lost in the whole kerfluffle. Jimmy's response (and Griffs defense) both mentioned how he went through the proper channels. This was the only news to me; I didn't know that journalism had proper channels.

That is right on time for Hyams if you ask me... you know the speed with which brings us breaking news

It's not just the Fulmer staff. He has no connections on the basketball team either.

Hyams called me a liar on air before on something I was right about, so as far as I'm concerned that POS can fall in a hole and die.

Hopefully he gets fired over this Janzen deal.

Hey Jimmy. Here's a scoop for you, a secret if you will. It is part of Mike Hamilton's job to keep the black jerseys a secret. He didn't even tell his staff. In fact he told his staff that there were no black jerseys. The black jerseys have more of an impact and effect you see if everyone including national media, the South Carolina team, and others don't already know about it several days in advance. So MH did his job and he did it well.

Your job is to check with all channels---proper and otherwise, official and non official in order to determine what is actually taking place. So MH did his job well --- you---not so much.

Thats often why they call it a scoop and it is oft times obtained outside proper channels. Just letting you know.
I have never worked in journalism, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night and I think that is the way it is supposed to work.

I called him out on some things a few weeks ago...

He responds with.. "You're an idiot, I am surprised you can type."

My email was actually pretty tame and did not personally knock him.

I thanked him, however, for proving my point and then some to how unprofessional he is.

To put this in the proper perspective, Heather Harrington out scooped Hyams the day before the game, while Hyams was in denial all the way up to the kickoff show on Saturday.

I saw Heather at the skybox during the game and congratulated her on the scoop. Jimmy wasn't smart enough even to say that others are saying or rumors continue to circulate, etc. He was sticking with his proper Official sources told me line.......... probably until about two hours after the game. Then he probably said we are trying to run down a story about the possibility that Tenn wore black jerseys during the South Carolina game tonight. We have a call in to the proper official sources and hope to have something to report back to you on Monday.

I don't have a problem with him reporting a failed drug test if he can prove it. I think he needs to stop calling people liars and idiots when he seems to be in the dark on so many things that are well known. He is awful on the radio.
