JUCO QB Matt Simms -- all Vol

In all fairness, Schaeffer didn't really have a team around him at Ole Miss...I mean he wasn't a world beater or anything but he played well for us when he was healthy.

He had many of the same players Snead has and was far less productive.

Well according to "Meat Market" Coach O wasn't high on him at all...I guess by some miracle he suddenly turned into a SEC qb over night...He must have, coach Kiffin wouldn't have recruited just a warm body now would he?

It is all about competition with this staff. This will be interesting to watch. Welcome to Tennessee Matt, Good luck this spring!!! :good!:

I think Simms is a great addition, what Kiffin and company did to Crompton, they will do the same with ANY QB. Let's hope we can get the big uglies in now to protect them.

I don't like saying this but here goes. I'm fed up with posts from some of you banging on recruits signed by coaches simply because you don't like them. Well I got news for you - these coaches don't give a rats ass what you think. They have forgotten more football than you people will probably ever know and from some of these posts I wonder about {1} your age and {2} if you know anything about any sport.

CLK wants Matt, and Matt wants to be a Vol. Good enough for me. No reason to speak poorly of him. He's one of us now.

+1

I don't have to like his brother (in fact, I root against him every time some hapless team has to pull him off the bench or the waiver wire) but if Matt's a Vol he's got my support. I don't root for Eli or Jimmy either, but I'll always pull for Peyton, Casey and even Rick to succeed (in whatever capacity).

Why Tennessee?

Simms:
When you go on a visit to Tennessee it's hard to turn it down, just for the tradition and the academics. Who doesn't want to be a Volunteer? You gotta be crazy not to be a Volunteer.

WELCOME to Big Orange country!!!

At the very least, it's a strong vote of confidence for CLK from a dad and his son who are far more capable of evaluating a coaching staff for QB development than most prospects.

Welcome to Knoxville... Matt Simms. Here's to hoping you make a name for yourself at UT in the same way that another former NFL QB's son did. :hi:

The competition with Bray will be tough. We don't know yet whether the ginger will give it his all as he did towards the end of the season or be on easy street as he did initially. He can play too, though, if he works at it. Hopefully, you guys can all learn some stuff from one another and help the Vols continue its recovery to national prominence.

Go Vols!! :peace2:

I totally 100% agree. Good Post Brother!!! Go Vols.....:good!:

I'm with you. I don't see the utility in knocking a recruit. If the coaching staff sees something they like, I have to have confidence that they know more than I do. If they don't pan out...so be it. But, why not welcome the kids to the Vol Nation with open arms and high expectations?

Again, totally agree. We're fans for goodness sake. Critique yes, but don't bash these young people. We're not the ones (coaches) getting paid Mega-Bucks to turn these young guys into the mature athletes we may not have envisioned them being, by watching a high school game tape or reading a stat sheet. Let's just enjoy being the fanbase and not the judge, jury and executioner of these kids careers..........GO VOLS........

Most of the players that are there now were freshman when he was there...Hard to compare the two but I see you are trying in vain to...Cracks me up but keep trying :eek:lol:

Another thing about Simms that feels good right about now . . .

Tennessee is represented in the top headlines on the college football main pages of both CNNSI.com and ESPN.com right now AND IT'S NOT NEGATIVE. His pedigree makes his signing newsworthy beyond Tennessee and even the SEC. Also saw the story on ESPN News earlier tonight. And no mention of hostesses, pellet guns, or decommitments.

This guy should fit right in with Kiffin and company. He is a trouble maker with a history of problems. He was suspended for four games at UL and jumped ship because he wasnt going to get to play. His most famous moment was a picture of him with marijuana floating around the internet. It has been reported that he flipped off the other teams fans after his state championship game. Looks like you really snagged a good one vols.
